Red Energy referral 15,000 QF points [now 7,000 or $100]

Thank you to SKYE (whoever you are), as I have just received an email from Red Energy with a $50 e-gift card voucher or 3500 QFF points, thanks to you using my customer number 6840020 when you joined. What a lovely surprise, and I hope someone pays it forward and uses your number, too 😘
Anyone thinking of switching, you might be interested to know they have a new promo whereby not only do you get the 10,000 points for switching electricity retailers, plus the $50 gift card, but new customers also go into a draw for a share of 2 million Qantas FF points 🥳 This offer ends on 28 March 2021 though.
Wondering where you can use the gift vouchers?🧐 I have just uploaded a screen shot of participating retailers.

For those in this thread who've been with Red Energy for longer than 12 months, you may be interested to know that you can churn away from Red and back again to earn another allotment of bonus points.

This can be done once every 12 months, you DO NOT have to leave for a full 12 months unlike some other types of churning. I successfully tested this in December after another AFF member pointed out:

I moved to Origin Energy who were offering 20,000 WWR points (10,000 QFF) after 30 days of being connected. As soon as the WWR points arrived, I initiated a move back to Red and successfully received the points and SC from that promo also.

In total I received 25,000 Qantas points + 30 status credits for the effort, which I think was worthwhile.

There's no reason you need to move to Origin specifically, they just happened to have the most appealing offer at the time. At the moment AGL are offering 2 x $50 prepaid Mastercards to transfer Electricity & Gas after being connected 30 days, which seems like a reasonable deal.

Further details about my experience moving away from Red and back again, along with a more detailed timeline, are available in this thread.

I've been with RED for over 12 months at my old residence, but am thinking of switching at the new residence... although I'm unsure if I'll need to end the power agreement at the old address first (i.e. stop being a customer) to earn bonus points?

Thank you to the person who used my code: 7639019 in recent days

I used yours on the way back to Red, but I've no idea whether the referral process works in the churning scenario I mentioned above (I haven't received anything)

T&C suggest you will be okay without ending your old agreement:

* Available for new residential electricity and/or gas customers in eligible areas of ACT, NSW, VIC, SA and QLD only with a current Qantas Frequent Flyer membership who sign up with Red Energy on a Qantas Red plan for a new electricity and/or gas service at a new supply address. This means you could be eligible if you are a new customer of Red Energy, or an existing customer of Red Energy signing up to a new supply address. Customers will receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points for electricity and/or 5,000 bonus Qantas Points for gas once Red Energy becomes responsible for the supply of the customer’s electricity and/or gas supply.

I have used your referral code (as I thought I might be pushing it using my own referral code) to switch both my electricity and gas to Red. It's processing now, so I'll keep the thread updated as things move along and I guess we'll see what flows to both you and me, considering I am an existing customer, but the terms say I should be entitled to bonus points at the least.

:) :)

$50 coming your way.

For those in the know... I'm only swapping to Red for one quarter for the QF points and the Amex credit (they're more expensive otherwise). If I wait for the first bill to arrive to switch again, I'll be stuck with them for 2 quarters. Do the QF points still work if I swap to them and then a few weeks later start the process to move away so that it's done at the next meter read?

Thanks N860CR. Sudoer's experience upthread suggests that will work. I think 30 days is the minimum requirement. No doubt Sudoer will confirm or otherwise.

Confirming 30 days.
