I was wondering if you'd been on one of the corporate team building retreats. As best I understand such retreats they take the team into the woods, everyone gets naked and rolls in the mud and then howls at the moon. This process either builds strong team or fractures it forever.

I wonder if the 'enhancement' included personalised 'flak jackets' for dealing with 'enhancements' to Classic Award ugrades?

That's only an "enhancement" if it results in a general reduction of the pool of classic award availabilty.

I thought it qualified immediately as if someone falls for it they end up paying a premium of nearly 50% compared to just redeeming the points for a "Classic Business Award seat" originally.

Higher cost for same seat = Enhancement Q style in my mind.

Which is based on the assumption that a classic business award was available when they booked. I'm not sure that is an entirely valid assumption.

Not at all.

An enhancement is where an existing benefit gets taken away.

The addition of a new one (regardless of whether it's good value) is actually still a genuine addition (not an enhancement)

Agreed. The incentive is now clearly there for Qantas to reduce J award availability, but no one will know if they actually have. Other than that, no one has to lose anything.

And some people have been calling for a way to use less cash on J awards. Here it is (after the recent reduction of copay for Y awards).
