I'm thinking AMEX will have the person with negative points balance on their files so if the person re-applies, they will be able to either reject them or have the customer start off with negative balance.
Of course that sounds very reasonable and likely

I put that original scenario out to see what the implications are

And what "banking " rules are being broken.
Or are you judt being bitter because it goes against your morals?

You can take it any which way you want, my moral standard is not the point here. The 'rule' is that any point awarded would be reversed if a purchase is returned/refunded. You intentionally closing your account for the sole purpose of preventing the bank claiming the points back is against their T&C. I wouldn't go so far as calling it 'defrauding the bank', but one could easily argue it would be close.

Why would I be bitter? It would not register on my care-factor radar. It is a matter between you and the bank.

And which t/c is that?

I drop my phone regularly and the screen has cracks in it almost all the time. The price of screen protectors is from memory now below $10 so I replace the screen protector 2-3 times each year in Thailand and my screen is in very good condition.
I have a 2yo phone and it's been through a lot. I dropped it countless times and it fell off the benchtop and face planted a few days ago but there's not a single crack on my screen. I have a Spigen Heavy Duty Tough Armor Hard Cover purchased off eBay for $20+ and no screen protector as it wouldn't fit with this case. Hope this helps! :)

Don't worry about it; I'm not here to argue about something that does not interest me, and you obviously are not interested in hearing anything about it either... go ahead with your plan...
No problems.
As i suspected from the very start you were against my suggestion so you had to say it was against t/cs without any knowledge or it was just a guess. So when i asked you which t/c, you cant prove it, and go off on a random tangent.

No worries at all.

Yesterday I reloaded my Amex Platinum Edge card early so now I have plenty of room to run 3 points per dollar this Christmas.

Are you doing all of your Christmas shopping at supermarkets, KMart, Target & Big W? Are there any other places (outside of buying discounted Wish cards that can no longer be turned into Visa1 cards for spending everywhere) that we might have missed where we can Maximise the 3ppd earn until Devaluation day?

Good luck finding a VISA or MC that comes close - especially when you consider the travel credit offsets the cost of holding the card
While for Supermarkets and petrol stations there is not much better than AMEX Plat Edge, but the 0.5FF point per $ for general spend there are a lot of cards that are better.

No to those last 3, apart from the odd item that is.

As much as I love 3 (or 4) MR points per $ apart from food at supermarkets I can normally source what I need to buy , including Xmas Shopping, online at better prices, quality and range online rather than those three stores. Mostly at 2 or more MR points per $ too.

Had to get some Coles Myer gift card for a work thingy so I used the trusty Amex Plat Edge for those.
Still more opportunities as I had to prepay my credit card to go again.
No flybuys there, no 5% off just 7500 Kris Miles for the one this morning.

Hey guys so I looked at my point transactions over the last few months and I've been getting 0 points for supermarket spend. Probably tens of thousands of points (@ 3ppd) not awarded.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty pissed, I called amex and they are investigating as we speak.

Which one?

St George 0.5 SQ mile is the basic Amplify at $79 per year
Cheapest ANZ 0.5 SQ mile is Platinum at $95 per year

You find me a card which earns me more SQ miles than these.

0.5. That's not good. And that's the best that there is ……. ?

My more expensive Amplify credit card runs at 0.825 Kris Miles per dollar spent including the birthday bonus so I use mine a lot. Have not bothered trying to get our $20,000 starting credit limits increased and five family members all love this credit card.

Your card is 0.75 SQ miles, and $279 annual fee, and only 1 extra card is available.
Comparing against Edge at $195 annual fee with $200 travel credit and 4 free extra cards, which you can justifiy it to effectively $0 annual fee if it suits you.

Of course you would get the STG card if you want the points; but there is a big difference between the annual fees and the number of extra cards you are able to get.

Which is why I keep coming back, that I think some of the criticisms are unjustified / knee jerk reactions.
