Yes, he was referring to Krisflyer I'm thinking as for many of us SQ is the preferred destination (value).AFAIK, Velocity points dont expire as long as there is activity on the account.

A big thank you to daveozsydney, isochronous and everybody else like me that either rang, wrote or facebook posted about this dastardly change.
Goes to show what people power can do.
The only problems now are how long before we get 90 days notice of a change to redemption rates and what to do with, in some cases, massive amounts of points? Do you transfer to KF and hope that you can use them before they expire as I see lots of redemption requests or do you warehouse in VA and lose in the transfer to KF? I also don't see any 15% bonus transfer promotions any time soon.
Decisions, decisions.
Getting Mrscove on Virgin is close to impossible. She still remembers the flight attendant reading a book instead of working and that was 3 years ago. She loves Qantas and Singapore Airlines.
Thanks everyone for their efforts - Citibank have even added in a bonus! 15,000 Citi Rewards points now converts to 10,001 KF miles
Cheers,
Mike
The Citibank redemption rate has been updated and you can now transfer at the old rate.
My 1.5 million Citi reward points are now safely with SQ.
Really can't trust this mob. They have to be the worst bank to deal with.
Right this minute there are probably computer boffins at SQ scratching their heads and wondering what the hell is going on..
FWIW I personally won't be making any hasty transfers - I think it would be prudent to just let the dust settle and assess all scenarios.
I do think Citi will at some point not too far down the track reinstigate these changes to the conversion rates - but they will indeed be giving the required 90 notice.
This will give all of us plenty to time to fully investigate 'best usage' of Citi rewards. Personally I might shunt to several FF programs rather than all to SQ.
Might I suggest that ALL Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members send off an email to SQ regarding the 3 year expiration period for points. SQ are quite out of date here - probably the only major top tier carrier who still have this archaic system in place. Who knows - people power brought sufficient pressure to Citi to change their minds - a whole bundle of emails to SQ feedback might possibly bring sufficient pressure also.
SQ feedback email address here - [email protected] - SQ might already be considering this to bring themselves into 21st century - or they may never change - but in last few days we have all witnessed the power of the people!
