I have accepted a position at a company in Sydney which will make Sydney home from Monday to Friday most weeks with a more permanent outlook within the next 6-9 months.

With this in mind, I propose a regular Sydney drinks evening, maybe a Thursday night at some pub/venue that's close to public transport as I will be travelling into town by train rather than driving.

Who's in? Im happy with any dates excluding Fridays and Sundays (however happy to catch up in the QP-J on Friday nights or the occasional F Lounge on a Saturday).

Perhaps a venue can be chosen and a date set!

I shall keep it in mind if I am ever here through the week.

I am often in Sydney so I like the idea of a somewhat regular meet up where we can have 'drop in' options - shall we call it (for lack of a better name) Anytime Access ;)

When someone is in - they know there may always be a couple of AFFers about :)

Nice work.

Somewhere that wont force me to rob a bank if I’m in town to enjoy a drink would be useful too, though doesn’t have the be a replica of the Mill, or a backpackers ;)

There is a couple of good bars up Pitt Street, near World Square (read dumplings!)

You know how often I am up in Syd, and it's usually Wed-Fri!

I live about an hour from the city, but I'll come in from time to time or organize work in the city some of those days, just hope there is somewhere to park for those that have/are driving, but if not I'll work something out..

PS good luck with the new job

That sounds like good plan.
We are close to Circular Quay station when we are in Sydney.

I'm interested, city area is good for me. I have had catch up drinks with people in a pub on the corner or Pitt and goulburn. Irish place, dump like but cheapish. Also a place up near central station in surry hills.

For night of the week, I'm normally on the plane back to Adelaide on Thursday night. So Tuesday Wednesday would be better for me. But I can switch up my work days. Or hopefully my Friday meeting become more regular.

Edit: Royal Exhibition on chamlers St is the pub in surry hills. Nice beer garden area.

I work close to Central station and live a half an hour walk from there so I'm up for a drink

Mon, Tues and (some) Fri best for me.

Albion Place Hotel is pretty good for food and drinks. Foursquare checkins sees a free Grolsch, seems like every other day is some two for one / discount /special drink event.
Located by the cinemas on George St. Upstairs is good for talking, eating and drinking, downstairs is good for both.
I am in SYD each month for work pretty much. I usually have 1 week's notice that I am heading down unless it is a set event.

One of the dissapointing aspects about living in Adelaide and only transiting through Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to catch international flights is not being able to meet you guys :(

However, one of the benefits of living in Adelaide and only transiting through Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane is that I live in Adelaide and only transit SYD, MEL & BNE ..... :D

Sounds like a plan... I find Thursdays to be quite happening, as everyone is upbeat due to the looming weekend!

May I suggest that we start something like f&gtag (see below link): a different location each time, where the minority "takes over"... could be quite interesting concept:

Link here, safe for work

All of the venues suggested sound good, even moving venues.

Could always arrange drinks in ADL, just to keep up with BNE and now SYD.

Re living in Adelaide  The people at work look at me crazy when they hear I don't live in Sydney. Little do they know. ;)

When and where shall we start?

Çount me in guys, Thurs is my preferred day :) Wednesday is also good, however Monday and Tuesday nights are out - as its gym night (yet it seems to be not working for me)!

I'm happy to venture anywhere between work (York & King Sts) and home (Broadway).

I'd suggest Mr. B's Hotel first up, as not as is its newly renovated with a creative decor .. but there's also a whole bunch of cheap eats nearby!
