OK, so they only gave me $3500 limit but when I want to buy the RTW tickets on AA next year, I can just put extra money on it so it doesn't bounce, right?
With a regular bank (NAB, CBA, ANZ, Westpac etc.), I would say there would be no problem in topping up your card sometimes, providing most of the time you use the card as a normal credit card. But with Amex, they seem to make rules as they go, and watch accounts more carefully.
When I started out in business, I had a card with a low limit (I think $5000), and I always had plenty of funds on it, as I was making purchases of up to $50,000 and monthly purchases of up to $300,000. The bank did not seem to care.
