Releasing Classic Award Seats for a WP

I was told by QF that they can only ask for seats to be released on QF operated flights, as I also tried to get an extra seat on EK.

Indeed, it is only a published benefit for Qantas operated flights (although my Chairmans lounge boss had a request fulfilled for an F award seat on EK). For a request to be even considered for a J seat there must be availability in the Q bucket.
