Over the last few weeks I've been unhappy with the 'general tone' of some posts from some of our members. I'm not sure if it's to do with the bushfires, floods, or the anxiety surrounding the Coronavirus. Whatever the reason, the moderators and I find this unacceptable and we will be taking action to ensure that AFF continues to be harmonious community.
Our Terms of Service (which you all agree to when joining AFF), clearly lays out what is acceptable and what is not. In particular I draw your attention to:
* Do not post anything you would not say to a stranger sitting besides you on an aircraft. (bullet point 1, under General Rules)
* Be courteous and respect your fellow members. (bullet point 5, under General Rules)
* Posts should always be constructive and on topic. (bullet point 6, under General Rules)
which is summarised in our Posting Guideline Attacking/bullying/threatening and being disrespectful of other members is NOT PERMITTED on AFF.
We will now be enforcing these guidelines forcefully and any post which we feel does not comply will be deleted or edited without warning. Repeat offenders will be disciplined which may result in the AFF account being suspended.
In the past we have been fairly "light-handed" when moderating and it saddens me that we are now forced to change this approach. But I do think it's for the common good and is in the best interest of our community.
Thankfully, the vast majority of our members whose posts are genuinely helpful, courteous and polite will be unaffected by these changes.
