Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks both. Only have Hilton card so far so will wait til I get the gold to transfer

I’ll tell you in a few weeks! Just approved for US personal this morning from Aus Biz via GT.

Nothing I have read tells me that it’s not possible to transfer the MR points and they are the same type of 'Point' as earned on the personal cards

Not sure about between AU accounts, only have business ones setup
Transferring between US and AU is possible and vice versa. I was told by AMEX Aus that next time I want to transfer, call the side you're transferring FROM first (it doesn't really matter too much, but apparently easier for the other party to track). Takes a few days and will be converted at the market rate for AUD/USD at that point. Note AMEX is a payment processor so they handle their inhouse FOREX, they use to have a calculator on the AU website but appears to no longer have it usable :(

Note, if you have just the Ascent Points here in Australia (not Ascent Premium that Amex Plat Aus gives), they just treat it all the same on the other side as 'MR' - no further conversion reduction is made!

Yesterday I walked into a Chase branch hoping to avoid the verification stuff on an Ink Unimited. The personal banker was insisting on a business license even though I told her I was a freelance tour guide. So I applied through the app, got the verifiaction needed email and immediately called and after being put on hold while she went back and forth with someone else got approved and requested card to be sent to family in Australia while I was escorting a tour at present.

Are you really a tour guide ?

I applied for a US premier checking account online last night, as advised by the HSBC International Banking phone support, Premier Checking Account | Premium Banking - HSBC Bank USA

I was updated to AU Premier last week, it is noted on the current bank statement. I'm not sure what I did wrong on the application, but was declined through email only 10 minutes after submitting. Any advice on this ?

Just upthread someone recently said need to wait 30 days from getting Premier in AU before applying
In similar boat (approved this week) so will watch

I hope it is only this. Not sure if you need to list a US mailing address in the application, which I didn't.

I was really hoping to have all this ready for my trip to the US in Jan

Everyday no annual fee one. If you don't want to loose 1 slot of 5/24 then downgrade (after min 1 year) one of aMex card to this Annual fee free to keep your MR
I think I will do this via a Gold downgrade after a year

Amex Blue Business Plus is free for keeping your MR account alive.
And I assume doesn’t take up any space on 5/24 as business?
