The longer version is that I was Accor Plus Play via AMEX. AMEX parted ways with Accor so my Accor Plus Plat should have ended at the end of December last year.
A month or so before that, the web site said they will be comping me Plat for another year (my basic problem is that I failed to take a screen shot of that).
I made some bookings overseas for Feb/March and Plat perks were recognised during the stays. Web site still showing Plat.
The stays failed to post, so I called Plus. They said - there is a problem with your membership and I foolishly volunteered

that it may be because of AMEX etc etc. After a few minutes he said yes, that's it, we'll have to put you back across to Le Club.
What I didn't realise was that he was doing it there and then. In a few minutes he announced that I was back to Le Club and I'd have to call them for the missing stays. But, but, but! .... No dice; I was no longer with Plus so they didn't want to know.
Called Le Club and got some execrable (I assume) Frenchman somewhere. As far as he could see, I only made Gold a day or so prior (Gold?? Hang on ....) and how could he help me get points etc when my stay was before I was Le Club?
And on and on it went.
In the end I contacted the hotels direct. Sofitel Moorea credited points and stay immediately; after 3 e-mails Novotel Viticura Santiago still didn't. Unfortunately I've already reviewed them twice on Trip Advisor so I couldn't give 'em a rip there.
I used up my Accor points for a stay and haven't been back since.
