Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximis...

(Interestingly enough the 750 mile zone is something I have overcome before having navigated a couple of non-refundable first fares on DL for VA status.)
Yes, but... DL has its hubs in different locations to AA, ATL being significantly further east than DFW, MSP further west than ORD, however DL does have SLC way out west (but not quite on the coast)...although PHX is about to come online with oneworld:idea:

Yep - and at least there is still a differentiation between First and Business.

(TBH - MSP was a place to look at out of LAX)

What is TBH ?

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximis...

As already noted in the last few days, good multi segment runs are becoming more expensive (two and three segment journeys can be much more expensive than one segment ... and forget about four segments!)

Yes - this thread will need some retooling - in fact I may start a new one ...

Serfty, A couple of us have thought about offering you wine to assist with the reworking. Sing out of it will help!

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximis...

Actually, it's not a 'massive' devaluation, if you do the right routes.

We (ie, those of us that do these trips) have maximised current routing around existing QF rules. It'll just need some tweaking now. It may be a small de-valuation, but considering how much cheaper it will be on AA vs QF still, it's still excellent value.

I reckon this thread will get busy from now on =)

And doing a run, earning a chunk of SC's and then taking your bat and ball and moving to VA seems a false economy surely?

I fully intend on keeping my foot planted in both camps until QF either rises from the ashes, or the smouldering embers are extinguished.

I've just managed to get a foot into each, now I just need to evaluate over the next few months to decide if I keep pushing with QF or not. Luckily I have a few trips to the US this year so I'm keeping an eye on this thread.

Any preference? I seem to be attempting to start my own bottle shop :p

Count me in... although I might have to book a JASA from CBR (tongue firmly planted on the chin :-) )

Quite happy my next run is in June and not any later!

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximis...

I just wanted to say thank-you to my fellow AFF members. Not only have I managed to book the first leg of my domestic flights in the USA in July at half the price it was showing yesterday (90 day window), but I was also able to use the El segundo method to get round its inability to accept my CC. As I said to MR FM, what would I do without this board! I only have 3 more legs to go, but I am patiently waiting for each 90 day window to happen :)

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximis...

How do I join the secret Calabrian mafia-style society where we whisper the AA status runs to each other?

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

There is none really - a lot of the research above is very strait forward these days as multi-segment bookings beyond one connection tend to rise in cost rapidly.

Try flights.google.com for initial research to look for the cheaper routes then head to ITA for deeper analysis.

And bang for buck has really gone down with the new earn tables..

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Just after the new earning tables came into effect i still found requalification for gold was possible for around $1500. That seems to be about $2100 now - just checking the standard HNL-SJU route. But subtract a couple years of QF club membership from that (depending when you qualify) and still makes it pretty cheap.

Can I please also join the secret Calabrian status run mafia? I have been trying to find a US run for March with no success!

I'm not a member either  but there's some info sent to your inbox
