Well as long as Princess Fiona is being so generous! I'd love the info too. I'm also looking for a new run to test out in April next year.

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Me too please Princess Fiona! I'm heading to the US in a couple of months - not all flights are booked yet.

Oh my goodness, I have been inundated and feel like a bit of a fraud
There's definitely no secret mafia except for the info that's exchanged face to face as far as I'm aware.
Publicly, the best current info on decent routes and fares AFAIK is available on the BAEC forum on FT. They call it Tier Point runs.
It won't spoon feed you and the BA earning tables are slightly different. IMHO it makes good reading, particularly since the advent of the US Airways routes.
And apologies in advance to anyone who's already all over this and was looking for something better.

Ngggaaawwwww :( Is that all. Looks like I'm gonna have to keep eating pineapples.

Nothing wrong with that. It's just easier to make it in the 'wood than to climb pineapple trees, and a lot less prickly. :)

If you don't get the riddle / joke, never mind - you're not missing out on much.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Starbuck's cheap neighbour. But again still not missing out on much from there :(

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

There's a few more suggestions over on this thread. I've included a run I just completed in late August. I was absolutely shattered by the end of the run (8 flights in less than 48 hours), and have asked friends to question my sanity if I choose to do this again. However, it has netted me a bunch of SCs, so I'm not complaining too loudly.

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

I was able to book two sequences LAX AUA and return on AA.com yesterday using my Oz cc. No need to use zip code as the North American address/zip box was optional I did include my postcode with the city. I don't know if that helped. I probably didn't score as well as some AFFers do but I am happy. Thanks Markis and the other contributors.

Kinda new here and just read this (thank you it's great). It's been a while since the thread saw life but has much changed since then? Are people still finding good runs?

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

Price per SC seems to have gone up a lot - rare to see anything below $2.50 per SC

Thought so, still not too bad vs what you pay here.

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

There are still some good deals to be had - I recently booked an East Coast SC run at $1.85/SC :)

That's good to know, I'll be starting in the west late July and not getting anywhere near that number at this stage. Did you travel anywhere exotic?

Re: Research & book AA "Non-refundable "/"Instant Upgrade"/"YUPP" fare to maximise SC

I'm doing my first one of these in September. Travelling from ORD - SFO and I have found a routing in First (P) going ORD - DFW - PHX - SFO for only $450 USD. Pretty good value and will net 220 SC's.

I have a question though about baggage. It has been said here to avoid all checked baggage, but as this fare comes up as a one-way (not multi city) fare through AA.com, wouldn't they transfer luggage all the way through?

Yes - bags will be checked all the way through (this would be the case even if the ticket was multi-city). However, if you have tight connections, you bags might not always make the connection. But they will be delivered to you as soon as they reach their destination.

I don't see an issue with baggage on that routing as long as there are no really really short connections.
Happy wandering

Yes, the issue for baggage is more that you're comfortable getting to your final destination and maybe your bags don't arrive with you. If that's a problem, then put in place some things to ensure it works for you e.g. taking items you need at your destination as carry-on.
