Revamp of Shop and Earn

lovestotavel, you confuse me to no end. You hate flying Virgin and speak of of how you wish to deplete your points with Velocity, yet engage in activities to earn a substantial amount of points. No doubt this was a while ago, and 150k points is 150k points, but still...

Shop and Earn is only useful, in my case, when I'm going to use a retailer that earns points anyway. The good old days was when it was awarding a random amount of points, much higher than stated. Alas, the good times are over.

It's pretty simple... I hate Virgin domestic

Virgin to/from the USA is fine

Can also use points on Etihad to/from Europe, hence the points earning :)

Oh and just to make sure you are quite clear I have recently burnt over 1 million points on some flights :)

I'm late to the party on this, what were the offers you took advantage of to make 150k?

As mentioned above, some small new or emerging companies had offers where they offered xx points for a transaction......

Plus I did buy quite a lot of clothes at 15 points per $1

Not sure about lovestotravel point earns, but I do recall a point winning deal using a photo print shop which offered a deal which they did not think through beforehand. ;) (which I didn't bother with personally)

For me Shop and Earn has/had it's issue but has proved beneficial for me.. perhaps not in the 100k+ figures though.

Very nice and well done to those who managed to get something out of it.

You recall correctly! ;) that was the big one for me

If you thought and persevered creatively enough, the shop'n'earn website had some extremely lucrative offers. They forgot to put minimum spend requirements on some offers when they really should have.

I received 300,000 points for one retailer for very little spend.....

Meanwhile I'm stuck sinking $180 into insurance over the next 6 months for a measly 20k

Hahahahaa!

My mates and I weren't sure if we were going too hard with it. Clearly not!

I used some of the points to fly business return to Vegas with the same mates.

I had some sticky notes made up bagging one of the boys that we stuck up everywhere we went. The cleaners at Wynn Encore would have been sick of seeing them.

Juvenile... of course!
Why?... because it annoyed him (for a little while at least), and I derive tremendous enjoyment from annoying him!

I also have way more sticky notes than i need.

So do I but I bought them to get lots of cheap points, not to litter and irritate people.
