Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

If I were the lessors of the 737 (who assuming administration occurs) will lose significant money, if PAG just restart the next day then I’d be hesitant to continue a lease with them. Sure they may be more competitive but just like Virgin there are some who will never work with them again given they can’t forget the money they’ve lost.
I believe Rex owns the rest of their aircraft, just not the 737's, and given that'll likely never come back (at least the near term), that won't be an issue.

Still not showing anything on the jet flights for me. Mind you the speculation is now all over the internet and you’d have to have rocks in your head to book a new Rex ticket today.
they’re only there for today! everything after today’s date is unavailable.

was wondering if i should use up the last of my miles for a dash to melbourne!

Well what is the last 737 flight? Could be a bit fun and bitter sweet for all especially the staff (many of whom are ex VA and have gone through this before).

Given it's a Tuesday there is not a PER rotation, so I guess the 20:00 dep, one each from SYD & MEL.

Considering there have been news articles speculating that PAG will NOT exercise their option for a takeover of REX through convertible notes, I'm probably guessing (speculating myself) that PAG may have told their guys to "pack it up" and filing voluntary administration may be the way to do it for them as it gets them near the front of the queue as a creditor.

Pity they weren't managed properly.

My last couple flights with REX, BNE-ADL were noticibly superior to VA experience and same price or cheaper.

Thanks to Travel Daily email:

Regional Express Airlines (Rex) has halted selling jet tickets between major cities for the next two weeks with Ernst & Young said to be working with the carrier and likely to be appointed as administrators, according to numerous reports.

If it is confirmed, Rex will become the second Australian domestic airline this year to enter voluntary administration, following the collapse of Bonza in Apr.

According to Bloomberg, which cites internal sources speaking on the condition of anonymity, Rex will officially inform the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) tomorrow of its move into voluntary administration

That’s the thing, I need to go to MEL at sometime in the next few weeks. Should I use my oints while i can and get at least one way for free!!
Probably worth a try if you like to play Russian roulette :) Why not, unless it's a long commute to the departure airport? :)

I mean the writing was on the wall (on the side of their 737 aircraft) "Our heart is in the country".

But seriously, I only wish all the best for them and the crew.

Well someone internally has been told. Flights don't remove themselves.
no, but the company is apparently hemorrhaging money and they've brought in a rescue team then obviously the first thing they do is stem the losses.

The company is in a trading halt until tomorrow, pending announcement, obviously subject to frantic discussions and negotiations today. I don’t think there’s anything they could tell the staff today which they could rely on. If it was, then that’s market sensitive and under the ASX listing rules they need to tell the market first.

It absolutely sucks for the employees, but I’m afraid that’s the way the regulations play out.

They've now removed the banners advertising mid-week promo prices on the jet routes from the main page on the website. Now showing banners promoting regional airfares instead.
