Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Seems not many people still know about Rex? With baggage they are likely still cheaper vs JQ and VA.
To quote a fellow pax in the VA Lounge in Melbourne upon seeing a Rex 737 come to gate "oh really, look I thought they only did small planes"

Looks like benefits of RexFlyer are a go!

Yes! And further to my post above, it appears last-minute awards might actually have been rolled out! Looking for flights in the next 24 hours, they appear to be available for the lowest price. Which is good news!

The one thing coming might be lounge access? Dunno how they will manage any increase over their existing arrangements.

I just received an email from Rex saying they have some exciting news, and also I have a new member number 🤔

Dear LostRedditor,

We are excited to share an important Rex Flyer update and member offer with you.
You have been assigned a new Rex Flyer membership number xx_xx_xx_.

Moving forward please add this new membership number to all future bookings to continue to earn points and be rewarded as you fly. Your previous membership number will remain valid until 16 September 2024. However, we recommend using your new membership number as soon as possible.

Your password and other account details remain unchanged, and your Rex Points and Status Points balance are also unaffected by this update.
To log in to your account and review your new membership number, click here.
As a valued Rex Flyer member you also have access to a limited time offer to earn 1000 bonus Rex Points*. Simply enter your new membership number when you make a booking via rex.com.au and use Click to Pay and your Mastercard as your payment method. If you are new to the Click to Pay offering, you can enrol at check out – it’s that simple.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and we look forward to seeing you on board soon.
Warm regards
The Rex Flyer Team

Same here.
Seems like not a bad simple clear website.

Re the 1000 bonus for taking a flight, is that strictly using MasterCard payment as it says?
I'd have to see what 6000+ points can get me post a single flights with signup 5k banked already

Don't really envisage flying rex in forseeable future.
Our family virgin fanboi's n girls with odd QF flight thanks to Points+ deal.

They probably bought another software package that required clients to get new numbers.…

That's the realistic and probable explanation. It seems they've gone from 11 to 10 digit numbers.

The optimistic explanation is that they're preparing for bringing on board some airline partners and needed to adjust the numbers?

Can't see Rex speeding up bringing the airline partners in yet. ZL currently only has two known international interlines, DL and EY.

The only lock for ZL at this stage for upgrading from the current interline to a proper FF/codeshare partnership is DL.

I have booked several tickets using mastercard, for the 1000 points, but haven’t had any of them come through yet. It’s now one and three weeks respectively since travel.

Admittedly I didn’t read the T&C too closely. So i don’t know if i met the conditions, or even when they said the bonus points would come.

MEL-SYD, and I presume SYD-BNE as well, the lowest economy award seems to be 7400 points.

Rex’s lowest business class is actually more expensive than VA by nearly 2500 points. But that’s for booking within 24 hours. If you need to book in advance, rex’s business awards are double the price of qantas, and more than double the price of VA!

The beauty of rex is that planes aren’t full, so you’ll get a last minute reward. But otherwise They are quite expensive!

I just put through an inquiry on Rex's website (what an ordeal) as the 1000 Mastercard points (useful) and double status points (not really useful to me) were not credited - then again, I had to retro claim the flight despite putting my "new" Rex Flyer details in when booking. If I ever hear anything back, I'll try and remember to reply...

Errr… I realised bidding for upgrades doesn’t get you lounge access (if successful), but noticed when booking tonight that business class award seats don’t either! You have to buy lounge access for $33 for 3 hours!!

I presume diamonds get lounge access by virtue of their complimentary membership.

So you could go into one of their lounges, and time travel to a factory lunch room in Elizabeth / Dandenong / Silverwater in 1995
So is this the shortest airline loyalty program in history?
I hope that they won't waste too much money on this coming out of administration, and just concentrate on flying and maintaining the SAABs.

Or pay $65 to go into an IKEA cafeteria with VA?😁😁

Did Rex ever intend to upgrade or open more lounges as part of the whole 737 thing?
There was a Point Hacks interview with Sharp late last year where he said they had secured new and bigger lounge spaces in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and that work was starting soon.

In saying that, they said a new Sydney lounge was coming soon when the jets launched in 2021, so I'd take it all with a grain of salt.
