Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Considering Bain's cuts to VA and Velocity with the pending relaunch of "Virgin Blue" with a former JQ CEO at the helm, the possibility of REX joining the Star Alliance in the future may not be a 'complete stretch' after all..*

*Depending on how REX goes with their Jet services..

Rex Flyer appears under the menu on the new website but not accessible for me yet...

Rex indicated this week that it plans to have its loyalty program up & running by the time its partnership with Delta launches in the third quarter of this year, i.e. sometime between July and September.

(Early 2022 seems to have gone out the window, so I've updated the title of this thread.)

So DL makes sense. who else would make it an attractive options, from the slim pickings remaining? Probably 1 or 2 SE Asian carriers would help (TG, GA, VN, QH and PR all spring to mind as currently unattached options.)

PR at least covers the East Coast. Remainder are either currently SYD only (GA) or dual serves SYD/MEL (TG/VN)

With the news of VA/QR today, I wonder if ZL will be going after EY as their 2nd interline partner by the end of this year? Two former major VA partners wouldn't be a bad thing for ZL ;)

EY is still continuing as a VA partner though?
Likely to be a downgraded partnership, to similar FF tables like HA, VS and the HNA carriers.

it would probably free up EY to do interlines with both VA and ZL as they won't be a 'big 3' partner at VA by the end of 2022.

ETA of 'Rex Flyer' is currently around September 2022*, combined with the DL interline being online.

Author of this article aso speculates future petrol and supermarket partners such as United and (stand-alone) Mobil in regional Australia, alongside IGA and Foodworks.

*Obviously subject to change, of course.

Looks like along with its own frequent flyer program, frequent flyers can also opt to earn Delta Skymiles on Rex flights... interesting.

Maybe it will have the same conditions as the old Virgin-Delta partnership.
