Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Bain is piling money into VA2 to keep it alive… we will never know how much money they are losing anymore though. Closed doors.
Why would you mention Bain?
This is the Rex thread re their losses.

Why won't you mention QF forecast loss?
Who's piling money to keep them afloat?

Why would you mention Bain, but not QF?

C'mon man, you say piling money in yet you have no real idea whatsoever of any amount, ball park nothing!!

Really a nonsense comment don't you think?

Calm down, take a breath, all three airlines are struggling and the common factor is interlinked.

The first cash injection from Bain was reported to be north of $100M. There are rumours more is being lined up (it would have to be given the disastrous circumstances airlines are facing) but not reported formally yet, as it’s a private subsidiary of a foreign company now it’s a closed book op. So we only hear through employees and leaks.

QF already did a capital raise. I’d expect to see them do another one if all this continues. They are a publicly listed company so have to disclose these sorts of things.

Rexy is again pretty good at hiding things but also will need a cash injection soon I expect. I’m less across their financials though, others on here are better at that!

Always calm & hopefully always breathing.

You love to kick the boots into VA every chance. Every chance. Very biased.

So $100M, now more, yet QF looking at $2Billion loss & couldn't even raise from shareholders what they wanted, showed littler confidence since would say.

But who cares no need to mention facts, better stick with rumours re VA.

We know Airlines are really struggling, specially here on AFF.

BTW Rex financials all an open book, well as much as it can be, their listed.
Cheers.

I'm impressed that number is so low. I think some much bigger numbers will be coming from others.

At least Rex and QF (through QFLink) have aircraft they can run on skinnier routes and importantly at the moment, intra state routes. At a time where every dollar matters…

Didn't realise this was a Bain thread. I thought this was a REX thread. My mistake.

In this case I think we better talk whether VA will be joining the Value Alliance now that they're a LCC.

*moving on shall we* :)

I’m not biased I’m just very pragmatic , realistic and always have been about their business model. I personally fly VA2 although my work has taken them off our roster so we can’t use them for business anymore.

We were very very lucky to have people on this forum feeding us the dire financial state of VA1 months and months before covid was even a thing via leaks and rumours which allowed many of us to plan ahead to bail our points out to SQ etc and they got shouted down constantly but turned out to be 100% correct in the end. The $100m was just a starting emergency cash advance to meet immediate obligations (I expect fuel, wages?) as it was reported months ago. I’m 100% certain substantial amounts had to follow…. But it’s a closed book as we all know now.

Anyway back on topic. I know Rexy is listed but they seem to be very crafty with the way they disclose information. I suspect their corporate governance is somewhat… loose… but they do have the benefit I guess of intrastate flying networks as well to prop (pun intended) them up, a little.

PS I’m glad you are breathing 😆

Surprising they didn't manage to get a barb in there about "our staff being fully vaccinated 2 weeks before Qantas" (or some other whinge!) 😂

Rex's press releases have become uncharacteristically sedated in recent months. Perhaps their lawyers advised them to stop with the constant public attacks on QF?

There was definitely a body of evidence growing and QF aren’t shy of legal action. I think you may well be right.

I did some "back of the envelope" calculations a while back and of the Rex media releases issued between March-August 2021, around 60% directly or implicitly attacked Qantas. It was getting ridiculous.

I'd just about put the house on the line to say that each of those making up the 60%, all will have quotes from John Sharp. The other 40% will not mention his name.

Another possibility was that Rex's own mareket research indicated that the constant Qantas-bagging wasn't endearing them to the punters.
