Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

So one more aircraft next month then another in July. Appears to announcement yet on routes.

I assume all bases to Perth?
From the latest copy of their inflight magazine: “they will add resilience and more frequency to our network operations and also allow us to press ahead with plans to launch new routes to more destinations.”

I’m leaning more towards frequency increases on existing routes. Maybe a new route like SYD-ADL? Let’s see what they actually deliver this time…if the aircraft turn up.

Seem to be splitting the middle / low market up with VA2…. I wonder how sustainable they both will be in the long run though…

Another question is how long before the two private equity firms of 777 and PAG meet together to discuss a REX/Bonza merger to take on VA.

Yeah... The long run they'll all fail & <redacted> QF will be lone standing. And yeah the airfare will be reasonable price, oh yeah.

Ummmm are you ok….?

Why do you think they will all fail? I don’t think that will happen at all! But I do think Bonza, Rex and VA2 will all struggle to exist as seperate entities in the ultra low/low middle market.

ADL-SYD is definitely starting up when the new birds arrive.

In fact, they’ve put it on sale.

Commences 29th June, once a day, $99.

ZL817 SYD 1145 ADL 1325
ZL822 ADL 1410 SYD 1630

Schedule slots nicely into the downtime of the existing jet fleet. The new jets won’t be needed to add this.

Brisbane to Adelaide is the last real one left. Generally a thin route I recall, generally seen 737-700s, and E190/F100s. Tiger tried and axed it from memory also.

Melbourne to Brisbane could do with some increase.

Probably a better chance of increased services on MEL-ADL though, and potentially MEL-PER as the other new route. Especially if DL wants slightly better connections out of MEL for a potential future LAX-MEL service.

SYD-ADL begins 29 June. First of the 2 ex-Singapore/SilkAir 737s should on property before then.
Any update on these I wonder? The first should have been here by now but nothing. References to their arrival have also dried up in press releases.

I notice they’re reducing Melbourne to Sydney (again) from 7 daily to 5 daily effective 31st of July. That would allow them to launch Melbourne to Hobart with the existing fleet.

I read in a media report last week (can’t remember which one) that both arrivals have been moved from June/July to late July/late August.

One would assume engineering related, both have been idle for over a year.
