Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I use my Dyson hand held every day on the ground floor floorboards. In fact it's so good I rarely get out the full size cleaner. Takes two minutes and all traces of the Lab are gone (except for him following me around everywhere as he hates to be alone)

I'd actually love a stick vacc too, but I like the laziness of the Roomba...

I bought a Dyson stick vacuum and is my only vacuum cleaner. The 35 yo Hoover has gone to a better place.

Problem with the stick Dyson Vacs is they have limited battery power. So eventually you have to use your big vac if you have to do a big house clean.

What am I doing wrong? Dyson vac (only) with a big house vac job. Could it be the battery re-charge facility?

Dyson Hand stick lasts 6 minutes on max power, 15 minute without max power.

40sqm home here so big vac needed.

Or good management. I can easily do 2-3 rooms at one go. And do the main fluff room whenever needed. Keeping it clean regularly means no big house clean. And with the stick its easy to run over the floors regularly. No heavy equipment to drag out. Electrical cords. Doesn't get stuck. Etc etc.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Exactly. For me, the days of 'its Sunday morning, its vacuum everything day' is long gone. Whip out the Dyson when anything looks like it needs it, and carry on.

Hey, when do the endorsement cheques start arriving for all this?

I think to me. :p

Re: The totally off-topic thread

We don't have many rooms so battery life isn't much of an issue anyway...

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I want a robot vacc in addition to my Miele. I dont like pulling out the full vacuum every day to deal with balls of dog hair and stray cat litter. The idea is the robot keeps on top of things so that when I do use the full vacuum, the effort is less (and I dont constantly end up with cat litter tracked down the hallway). I love my Miele and will be keeping it. We did a side by side with Dyson at the time of purchase and the Dyson did bugger all to remove the hair (jack russell hair is stubborn); the Miele Pet Vac gets it all.

Cat litter - That's what kids are for, especially when the oldest wished for a cat one birthday and we then had a stray start hanging around. It's your cat, look after it.
The kids are also good at using the DC45 stick dyson, no need to get out the full thing.

I'm one of those people who thinks nobody can do a better job than me  :p
That's why I got the Dyson stick as I know I'd spend all my time criticizing the robot

Seriously though it's the best appliance I've ever bought.

When are you available to do an automatic clean of our floors? Let us know and we'll leave keys under pot plant and show you where to plug in your Dyson.

Ok, you got me!! Except for the plug part, my Dyson runs on batteries ;)

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Yes I have one for my office. Is passable. There are new generations from Sony etc with auto-canister emptying which look more interesting.

Hopefully the chip controlling the auto empty function doesn't malfunction. :D

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Thermomix? I think you either love 'em or just scratch your head wondering why? I scratch.

If I had to fit out a new kitchen with new appliances, I'd probably grab a thermomix so I save on getting a whole bunch of new things. Of course, I'd need to have a large budget in mind.

Most of us already have the components of a thermomix lying around, making it less of an incentive to get one out of sheer "I don't have what it can't do". The main thing that a thermomix can do that most of us don't already have is cooking and mixing things at a fixed temperature.
