Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Frankly when it comes to vacuums, unless it is a Dyson I wouldn't even consider it.

No no no .....Roomba is actually quite good.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

My impression on AFF is people buy generally buy top of the line appliances for home?

I bought a $70 vacuum cleaner from Big W (think that was the cheapest I could buy) and it appears to work quite well.

Why would I need a Dyson? Does a better job? Lasts longer? Or conversation piece?

When flying to continental USA went into Best Buy Got myself a Roomba 770 for ½ price

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Used to have a Roomba but when we moved to a place with wooden floors it had a habit of pushing the furniture around. We'd come home and find all the chairs in the corner of the room.

That's hilarious

:shock::lol:

Well at least you could get a good view of the pristine floor ...

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I have a cleaning lady.

She's no Dyson, although has magically turned into 3 ladies and a dude who clean my chateaux. I do like that there is 4 of them, because they clean faster, but it is rather exxy. Time to move to a hotel I think.

Schwarzenegger had a maid too!!

He's been in far more movies than me, and governed more states, and lifted more weights :o

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Loved our Roomba. Had it for years and she finally died. Got an LG robot and its not the same.......... Put it on everyday and all good.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

How do you guys get your cat or dog to sit still while you get their loose hair off with the Dyson stick. Monty would never be happy with that :)

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I bought a Roomba 18months ago. Didn't get used a lot but only recently realised it does as good a job as our cleaner ($30 per hour) who spends one of her four hours vacuuming
Now I'm buying a 2nd Roomba for the other end of the house and will have it paid off in 18 weeks.
Cleaner now does the windows, high dusting, empties and cleans fridge etc with the 1 hour a week now freed up.
Happy

There is actually a pet grooming attachment (I don't have it as Jimmy would run a mile).
I leave the grooming up to the Furminator at the dog spa :)

I don't have a Dyson, I feel a little bit left out. My daughter has two, loooooves them.
I don't have a thermomix either. But I do have enough cooking equipment to start a small restaurant or cafe.
In fact I have a new and (to me) exciting specialist Charcoal BBQ (for cooking Arrosticini ) coming this week.

............ But it makes spag, linguine, rigatoni and lasagne. Can also make noodles and dumpling skins. I like knowing there is nothing hidden in my pasta, just flour, egg, oil, water and salt.

Blackcat how easy is it to wash/clean the machine after making the pasta ? ( I haven't seen that bit on TVSN yet !)

MasterP must read these threads. He was asking last week about getting the grooming wand for the cat.

Its Red JessT - you must get that KitchenAid.

Very easy, the front comes off and the inner container comes out for washing in the sink. The discs also have tools to make removing the little bits of dough easier.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

bagless saves money in the long run.

I can't see how that could be true with a Dyson.
My Miele cost $200 and it's easily the best vacuum I've ever owned.

What I would like is a cordless vacuum though. That would lower the amount of perceived effort a lot and would mean more quick cleans.

Don't need a vacuum. We got rid of all the carpet out of our house. We have tiles in the traffic areas and floating floors (bamboo) in all the rooms. Cleaning is a breeze. Just an occasional sweep, and a steam mop on the tiles and gentle wood floor polish with a mop from time to time. Vacuums suck!
