Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Similarly have had great experiences with Appliances Online. Think I may have the same fridge as you bought @Lynda2475 (albeit a few years old now) and it’s been solid as a rock 👍

We had them install a washing machine a few weeks ago. The plumber had the plumbing installed in a most ridiculous position. Came in to check on them and the ao guy was on his back trying to connect the cold outlet to the tap. He did it. I felt bad I didn't have a cash tip.

After much over thinking I went with Sunbeam Multizone Air Fryer Oven because you can use the two different halves at the same time on different programs and coordinate them to finish at the same time; or just use 1 half or remove the divider and have a larger over. Plus liked that all the different trays and baskets store within the unit itself and that you can see what is cooking without opening to check.
The air fryer has some nice features. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it after you have put it through it's paces.

Have been trialling some of the IKEA home smart stuff over the last few weeks. Perth had gu10 globes on clearance for $7.50 so finally bit the bullet for the parents to do some outdoor lights, which are working well with the dirigera hub and vallhorn motion sensors to trigger on motion and only after sunset.

A bit disappointed that you can't currently make the parasoll door/window sensors only activate after sunset. Removes their utility to trigger lights for me but could be useful for simple notifications if a door is opened. Not sure if the system is smart enough to only send those notifications when you're not home.

The manual light buttons are also only about $10, sensors $15 and all run on the very affordable IKEA AAA rechargeable batteries, which I feel a lot better about than single use coin cells.

The IKEA stuff all runs on ZigBee so response time is pretty snappy. And I like the fact it's purchasable and returnable locally if issues.

Look forward to testing some of the things out on a home assistant setup at my own place soon, along with a bunch of hue stuff and some other random tuya based things I've picked up along the way. Just need to decide on a ZigBee stick to use with my HA RPi4.

Used for the first time today, used each side for different item/temperature.

Side 1 some spicy bbq chicken drumsticks, and side 2 tempura onion rings. Both turned out perfectly and all done in 20 mins. Love that there is no preheating and it beeps at 50% mark to tell you to turn items.

Next use will try something more complicated.

In 2006 I really wanted a KitchenAid but couldn't justify the price tag. Aldi had a different stand mixer it had 2 glass bowls (one small and one huge), a dough hook, beaters and whisk attachements for $25. I bought it intending it to be an interim appliance until I had more cash to burn.

Well some 18 years later it is still go strong. So if this latest one is in anyway similar it will be a steal.
On your recommendation I bought the Aldi stand mixer.

Can anyone tell me what the serrations on this knife are designed for? It's a Skyline (England). Was on a throw-out I walked past last week.
Bottom one looks like a bread blade, top one 5 day old bread. Then there's the serrated pointy blade.

Not the same maker but looks to to be a very similar knife - "Item - Vintage Wooden Handled Richardson of Sheffield Stainless Steel Triple Blade Serrated Bread/Utlilty Knife, Circa 1960/70s. This knife features three serrated blades, one is for cutting bread & similar, the blade at the top is for the cutting of frozen food and the small blade towards the tip for slicing."

Bingo, thanks @OZDUCK . That is the exact same knife bar for the name. One must 'ave made it for 't'other. See how I broke into local brogue? ;)

Mr Denali said it was very yummy. Vanilla with a nutty flavour and he really liked it as not too sweet.... he also added a crushed choc twirl to the top but said next time he would just put some crushed pistachios on top

Russell Hobbs have a Quiet Kettle (RHK26330), which Choice have rated 81% overall, their second best reviewed, with the highest 80% noise score.

I was tempted to get the PowerXL (seen the late night advert too many times) but I never cook that much food at once.
option for separate/individual halves is versatile, but how often needed? is using a silicone liner difficult?
