Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

If that's an antique what does that make me? :p
Glue? I did give my brother such a birthday card which has created a family tradition to see what I can up with each year. 2020 was a dud in May. But I already have his card for 2021.
(to those who are perplexed, VPS knows my brother🤭)

Does anyone have any pros and cons on Kitchen Aid vs Kenwood. I like KA has two size bowls and pretty colours but they're quite a lot more expensive than the basic Kenwood

Just don’t do what I did. My old Kenwood must have been the same vintage as yours and went on me about 4 years ago. Didn’t even hesitate or investigate , just went and bought a new Kenwood - the Titanium one with all the bits - just loved my old Kenwood.

Then a few weeks after buying a friend took me to a Thermomix demo and I fell in love, so I now have both! Although there is obviously a crossover, I still prefer my Kenwood for cakes

I know people rave about Thermomix and I've had a demo but can't justify the price (if I was much younger I might consider it)

[*as long as it isn't the Thermomix model that explodes and burns its users severely, fault denied by manufacturer and had ACCC intervention and a $4.6M fine for misleading purchasers]

That’s two models ago, hasn’t been sold for about 4 years :). It never “exploded”. The lid used to come off and potentially spray burning fluid around. Thermomix behaved pretty badly ( in fact they quite often seem to be less than customer oriented). However the new models (including mine) have a design which locks the lid on so it’s quite safe now. I use it almost every day and have had no issues. It’s an amazing machine and I love using it and so does Mr FM. Still prefer the Kenwood for conventional cakes though....

My friend who is a pastry chef swears by her Kenwood.

I have a Breville Bakery Boss and that does for what I need, two bowls and the necessary attachments. Can easily handle a loaf of sourdough etc.

My KA is about 12yrs old and love it, still going great. I think if you love your item then you take extra care of it. It took me a while to allow it but hubby uses it more than I do these days.

I loved my Kenwood and mine was one of those with all the attachments like the sausage maker and blender and I tried to look after as much as I could

Our Kenwood lasted for around 43 years until our daughter borrowed it. She tried to move it with a toddler in the other arm - it didn't bounce too well. The 'pyrex' bowl broke and while it still ran it did not do so well enough to use. We bought a new Kenwood XL sense which has been very good and is about 50% quieter than the old one.

Automatic coffee machines - any recommendations? I have a Delonghi which is on its last legs. I've been pretty happy with it but wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Looking for something fully automatic.

Bidets. Love them. Husband hates them. We will have two bathrooms in the apartment so here is my chance to keep the lid down. Anyone have one post fitted and experiences?

A friend who has a Japanese partner put one in just as Covid toilet paper shortage started. He's very happy with it and I would like to do it when I buy again. I'm going to ask him if I can come and have a look sometime and I'll let you know

Jura - we bought our last one from here.

My 9-1/2 Miele dryer acted up - in the process of trying to fix it the repairman broke it, so under their 10 year warranty I got a brand new machine. Figured it'd be sensible to replace the washing machine too (Murphy's Law was sure to strike the minute the warranty ran out!) It now goes to the daughter moving out of home, win win. My parents' Frigidaire fridge is still going at 50 years old- I kid you not. The only issue is the freezer door's been missing for years. My BIL has had it for 30+ years as a drinks fridge at his holiday house. He's an accountant and way too stingy to chuck it while it's still chugging away. For the cost of the electricity it's used he could have replaced it several times over! If Frigidaire was still in production I'm sure they'd have given him a new one just because it's a fine example of how good their machines were. Like the donk on an old Holden perhaps
