Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

It's interesting looking at all the kitchen gadgets being given away on my buy nothing group. eg ice cream maker only used once
Exactly what I was thinking about these waffle makers. Being sold as a Christmas item across 2 store groups suggests many more will be re-gifted / given away than actually used.

That's because the bowl, which has to be frozen, takes up a huge amount of space in the freezer for the couple of times you attempt to make icecream

May only complaint about the ninja creami is it's so tall. The space it takes up in the freezer are the tubs only, and you can have as few as you want.

After putting the blade/scaper through the dishwasher thus deforming it so it no longer fits in the bowl, "we" have purchased a Magimix Gelato Expert.

Our finance adviser would be unimpressed.... šŸ’øšŸ’øšŸ¦

I had some cream that had tomorrow as its expiry date so I thought I would give a go at making butter.

For the price of cream there's no real incentive to do this regularly but I've thrown away cream before so now I have something I can do with it.

I made 220gms butter and 350mls of buttermilk

We were so impressed with the ice maker that I got for the office that I bought one for Mr Denali as we found we're both using the ice from the fridge so much we run out and for $120, its a good little machine to have in summer and easy to pack away after Feb

In Brisbane, that would run year-round. No packing up needed.

Time to replace my 10+yr old dash cams (front & rear) and thinking of this

I rarely drive, less than 5K per year and my car can be parked for days unused so dont want it hardwired so this seems to be mid range

Any thoughts?

Does anyone have recommendations for a pool cleaner robot?
I have finally convinced my 83year-old mother to get one.
I think it depends on the type of pool filtration system installed. Is it a suction type setup with large segmented type hose that fits into a plate on top of the filter basket, or is it the modern small diameter smooth hose with a wall connection?

I am guessing she has an older pool and this will be the style she needs.

Along with a Polaris 360 (pressure side) I also have a new battery powered Aiper.
Both have their good points but the Aiper is heavy and big lift to get out of the pool and back to the charge point.
Our pool is large (+100000l) and a pita to keep clean as we have grown a forest around it.

Correct, the pool is nearly 50 years old and was Dad's baby, until he died a few years ago. Mum has done really well learning all the ins and outs of pool maintenance, but I've been trying to talk her into an automatic cleaner for years.
It's the second type she's interested in.
This is the 2nd type. It needs a fitting in the wall of the pool to supply water pressure that operates the cleaner. The cleaner picks up debris and holds it in filter bags within the unit. Anyone with a modern pool care to jump in here? I am getting out of my depth. ;)

The first type works on water flow (suction) though the filter basket. This is typical system for older pools.
The leaves and debris is sucked up the large dia. hose and is collected in the filter basket.

These are new since I last had a pool. Amazing, no hoses!

A cordless robot that the local pool shop can fix or carry parts
Thanks, that's a great point to keep in mind.
But is an 83yr old agile enough to take it out of the pool from time to time to clean out the filter.
Yes, she's still capable of that, you'd never guess her age, if you met her. She still trains local netball teams. šŸ˜„
