Hey all,

The first item on my bucket list is for a round-the-world first class trip. 'around the world in 8-12 days'.
Basically looking going east from Sydney.
Looked at the 'round the world' from the Qantas website and there were no Emirates options at all.
Am a Qantas Club member so hoping to maximise points/status credits.
Any suggestions as to who to book with for maximum 'bang for the buck' (e.g. airport transfers, priority customs, etc) plus quality of product (having a shower on Emirates was one I wanted to experience).

Thanks

Now, that's a thread title which should grab attention on AFF  .

QF First to LAX, then BA F to LHR then EK F to DXB and then an Etihad 'The Apartment' from AUH to SYD. Does CX have F from SYD-HKG-LAX? If yes, then I'd do that rather than QF F.

The Qantas Around the World fare advertised on Qantas.com is actually a "Oneworld Explorer" fare and only oneword airlines or affiliates can be used (flight numbers and metal).

That counts Emirates out.

Thanks all so far :)
Is there any way to check what is available with each airline (e.g. transfers, etc) or a case of just spending time on each site?

Use a good travel agent to do the work for you. I'm sure this is a fare/trip any one of them would love to ticket! (and it doesn't cost you any more)

If you don't have connections to one, PM me and I'll put you onto mine - really good.

If you are fortunate enough to pay cash for a First Class ticket (for all or most of the time) then I would be maximising the travel experience rather than trying to maximise status credits and points. When you have a confirmed F ticket, status becomes pretty negligible in my opinion.

Can't say having a shower on a plane would make it onto my bucket list.........;)

Don't Knock it till you have tried it :). Have done it several times and love it :)

Totally agree...
I would be more focussed on flying the best products and trying the best lounges...

I can't help at all, but gosh I'm jealous that it's on your bucket list and you're trying to do it! Good luck :) Let us know how you go :)

Thinking about that... if this was a 'once in a lifetime' trip - I'd probably give the edge to star alliance rather than oneworld. It's pretty hard to look past Lufthansa (especially the FCT in Frankfurt), Singapore Airlines, and you could even squeeze in a leg on TG F ex BKK.

ANA, OZ and LX too

Any travel agent would be champing at the bit to ticket this for you. I'd shop around- there is a huge amount of fat in this

I booked the last one Ex-JNB. Much cheaper. With the $ changes I'm not sure what it currently costs, but probably enough of a saving if you can position there.

Recently booked a RTW ticket from an online (Aust) agent at an excellent price. Very professional.
If you PM I will give you their details.

It's a hoot! :)
Have indulged in this treat several times and it remains high on my list of fun travel experiences.
I have spared a moment each time to recall memories of my innumerable long haul Y flights over the years.
But only a moment! :)

Can I suggest doing the trip flying west. There is less jetlag doing it that way
