RSA MEL F Lounge Qantas Official Response (Refused Drinks)

Gee that's a big assumption and a bit of a stereotype about waitstaff IMHO, but that aside perhaps having worked in such a place, seen the clientele and what goes on "behind the scenes" they may not *WANT* access!!! :D

The Mrs used to work at the Hyatt, most staff where good, but every so often she'd see a staff member with a huge chip on their shoulder. It paid the bills, but they did not like the people they were serving. Needless to say they didn't last very long (I got to hear about her complaints about certain staff on a pretty frequent basis).

This is not to say this is what is happening here, it's just a hypothesis.

isn't an equally plausible hypothesis that the drinks counter had been previously admonished for letting a guest get out of hand or even that they have a relatively low alcohol tolerance themselves and can't get their head around people functioning quite civilly after 4 or 5 drinks.

(I'm more a believer in the cough-up than the conspiracy)

I'd like to be as well but until I have heard of an example of the drink- driving RSA rule being applied to someone not on a JQd flight I will remain skeptical.

And there are people like this in every single industry and many levels of positions too. I guess it's a bit of human nature in some respects - to want what others seem to have, to feel envy/jealousy at someone else's situation or apparent wealth/happiness/status/house/partner/job (etc etc etc).

but anyway I digress from the topic. I feel like I need a drink now... :D

Exactly. Even if you are flying JQ, your done enough flying to earn the right to be there.

At least 3 actually.

And are you implying JessicaTam, TomVexille and myself were 'getting out of hand'??? You've obviously never met us but I can assure you, as would many here, that we are not the type to run rampant in the lounge and need to be cut off in order to moderate our behaviour.

No, not suggesting that at all. The fictional dialogue was based on the result being that people were RSA'd. The fact they were RSA'd does not seem to be in question. Given they were RSA'd and cost cutting conspiracies aside - I have assumed a disposition of the fictional staff member that would lead to some one being RSA'd. They may have come to that disposition for all sorts of reasons - possibly none of them valid.

Or they COULD be buying a Business Max fare of around $470 (last I looked) as either a SC run or for their own reasons. So what?

You can extend this argument to domestic business lounges and QC's IMHO.

If in Business class, they'd know. But just flying on JQd would likely give a poor perception. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that's the perception it's likely to give.

And it doesn't apply to the other lounges much at all. The reason is that in MEL Flounge, flying JQd is at times *obvious*. In all the other lounges, you're just one of many in the lounge.

I see "Simpler and Fairer" coming along with a simple mod to T&C

"Access to International First Class lounges for Platinum/Platinum One Members flying Jetstar Airlines*#/## (* Includes Jetstar Asia) (# Must be flying in First Class(Excludes codeshare flight numbers, except those operated by QF) or full fare/Business Max Business Class or JetFlex (Y).) ## Platinum One members may be granted access on any fare type.)"

Far easier for QF just exclude access for JQd passengers. Obviously those are actually flying MEL-xSYD-XYZ would still be allowed access.

My poor attempt at a pun. ;)

This thread is going around and around in circles over a few isolated incidents.

FWIW I got the pun .

I see where you're coming from but I, like others, wait with bated breath for an adequate response from QF.

I am currently sitting in the CBR J lounge. An attendant I have never met, nor has ever served me, has just offered me a (large) gin and tonic or vodka and cranberry. I arrived at 4.30 and have had 3 glasses of red in about 1 1/2 hours.

Dear Qantas,

Good for the goose, good for the gander!

Just saying',

JessicaTam.

Being as though those members of staff are paid to be in there, I would be surprised if they walked around harbouring high amounts of jealously of those getting to sit down to an extent where it's manifesting itself maliciously.

Having the ability to sit in an F lounge is not an aspirational activity for everyone.

Partly, but getting paid $40000-$55000 a year while pretty much everyone in the F lounge has paid about 1/4 of that to fly on one flight.....

Yes I am sure some staff are jealous

Let's all stop circling the wagons, lighting torches and getting a good ol lynching together until QANTAS responds. I think that everything on this topic that can be said, has been said and further speculation might poke the bear with a stick.

Cant wait to see what will most likely be a rational, if not bland and corporate, response. I don't want to see an additional enhancement resulting from all the great discussion here.

Hmmm, J*d theory is red hot.

Stupid way of implementing change.
