Hi everyone,
Please note this is a 'Rumour'! Don't pile in on me like the guy who said JASAs were going offline, look how that turned out to be true! I am just sharing what I have been told by a very reliable source!
My cousin started work at the QF F lounge recently, transferred from Accor hotels. Talking to her at a family get-together on Sunday, she knows I'm interested in these things, she's talking about the cost pressures in the lounge. Fewer staff in the evenings, told to be more strict with guesting, also she said apparently they even changes the razor blades and shave creams to cheaper ones this year some staff told her.
Anyway as part of this 'clamp down' she said she has heard that passengers on the JQ SYD-MEL flights which leave from the International terminals will no longer be allowed into the F lounge, they will ALL have to go to the J lounge.
QF has been examining pax coming into SYD and MEL and discovered how many are on the JQ domestic legs, decided that 'banning' them from F would save quite a bit of money in f&b, also help cut down overcrowding at the restaurant so that 'paying' QF pax and others can get best use of the F lounge. Says the reasoning is that JQ pax are 'low revenue' and QF has decided its more important to keep their 'high revenue' pax happy even if they are just WP on a Y ticket, they count more than JQ.
So from 1 January 2014 she says all JQ SYD-MEL pax who qualify for lounge access will be directed into the J lounge, even if they are WP. That way they still get lounge access so they can't complain but QF gets them out of the F lounge!
As I said this is NOT official but it is what she was told would be happening next year. Maybe the mods here who are 'in' with QF can confirm this.
