Has anyone successfully requested a status match with their HHonors Diamond or IHG Platinum?
Hi. Has anyone recently, had any success with a status match to their current hotel loyalty program? Any advice much appreciated

I thought I had posted the result of an email enquiry in March:

HI Fifa,

Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that the PriorityGUEST Rewards program does not tier match with other hotel loyalty programs.

In order to reach Platinum status, a member must complete 10 qualifying stays or 25 qualifying room nights across our participating hotels in a calendar year.

Once you’ve reached the qualification tier a card will be sent out for you.

If you require additional information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the info Fifa, appreciate the feedback.

Has anyone stayed at rydges Brisbane? After receiving Platinum status with both programs (Pgr & Gha) thought it might be worth a visit.

It's a typical Rydges, nothing special. Stayed last year a couple of times. Rooms still had the old bathrooms with showers curtains. Hope they renovated them before G8, after all TA stayed there.
Your platinum status will most likely guarantee an upgrade to river view room and also one complementary drink at the bar.

Thanks Boomy. really.....shower curtains, I hope bathrooms have had a bit of a reno. Appreciate your feedback.

Of all the hotel chains, Rydges, (under the AHL banner) are the most deluded about price when you consider their (generally) cusp CBD location, room size and furnishings, and each individual hotel's features. {AHD sp keeps going up though}. Generally dated all round.

Hard to argue that a pricing strategy that results in a rising stock price (usually a reflection of profitability) is "deluded".

If this was a stock market forum like Hotcopper I would agree. But as a traveller, what Rydges offer for x$ and what another chain offers for the same price, or less, leads me to consider "delusional" an apt description. Too many chiefs and too many indians in the Rydges camp that the average punter has to pay over the odds for in that competitive accommodation derby.

Stayed at Rydges Brisbane for a stopover, the views from the 11th floor were wonderful ,the bed was heavenly, buffet breakfast was also good. Even thou the rooms are quite dated and the bathroom is straight out of the 70s (still has a shower curtain) really enjoyed our short stay

Brisbane Rydges is actually very well situated for business and leisure travellers. It's the closest to Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, and also the only chain i can think of right on South Bank. Similarly, the SYD International Airport Rydges has the prime location in that area. Not sure about the rest, those are the only 2 I have seen firsthand.

Rydges SYD, MEL and PER are not too bad and located well in the CBD. ADL and HBA are both horrible (the hotels, not the cities ;))

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but just wanted to clarify that its 5 stays for platinum and 10 for black? I've had 7 stays since June last year and have had no platinum card sent to me or reduced rates when I log in. They don't go by an actual calendar year right? As long as its 5 or 10 stays in any 12 month period? I've emailed them and waiting to hear.... but it is the hols.

On their website it says 5 stays.... but I received an email saying 10 stays...per calendar yr!! they weren't including last yrs stays that I'd completed within the last 12 months.

Bit crazy as they really don't seem to offer much. And there is a mix of amazingly cool properties with ... some others. Not sure whether to bother with loyalty anymore or if I should just book them under the hotels.com umbrella. Might ask for a list of the cool properties from them so I know which ones to avoid. I very much loved freemantle and BNE fortitude valley

Status levels underwent a name change. What was Platinum is now BLACK; what was gold is now PLATINUM.

Black status requires 10 stays in a CALENDAR YEAR.

as our corp rates don't earn us any points or eligible nights for status I avoid Rydges and am now IHg Plat

Even weirder they've sent me a card for platinum after 5 stays. Stayed Syd Rydges airport recently and have another booking in Christchurch but did that one under hotels.com after being peeved with the reply I got. Now considering cancelling and rebooking direct with hotel.

So do I get to be platinum for the rest of this year AND next year? (I'm thinking I'll go for another 5 stays next yr or 3 stays this yr to see what type of card it gets me). But they've got my attention back!
