I asked PGR how I view my bkgs on line as I wanted to check all was OK. I couldn't find a phone number so I had to email them. Here's the response showing no initiative or help:

That would explain your recent troubles trying :(

For me, the location is very useful when arrivals are late and domestic departures are early.

We stayed at Ibis in August 2015, prior to USA, picked up for $99 for the night, we just want to sleep then travel. Nothing flash but you can close the bathroom door ;) 10 minute walk to domestic then catch the cheap train to int. Would cheerfully do again

Thinking of eating here on a meet up. Anyone have any suggestions on getting a promo coupon or discount?

You could join up to PGR Priority Guest Rewards, they give 20% off meals & drinks.
Fairly sure it's whether your staying there of not.

T's and C's say:

The discount on food and beverage bills will only apply where:
(i) the Member is present at the time;
(ii) There are 4 or less people dining at the table;
(iii) There is a single bill;
(iv)The Member presents their Membership Card when the bill is presented, prior to payment or room charge; and
(v) The Member is a registered in-house guest at the Event Hospitality & Entertainment Participating Hotel at the time.

Thanks, that all applies (except the 4 people or "less"). I will only have whole people there. :)

What is considered a good rate. Bei g a member I can get $177 for a Friday night in December is it likely to get better than that? Just looking at standard rooms. Thanks

IME the rates can vary wildly. I always book a refundable rate and keep an eye on what's on offer. For an upcoming stay I have locked in a similar (177) rate. At the end oaf the day, the location does it for me.

Seems like a reasonable rate. I just pre-paid last week $269 for this coming Thursday night for the cheapest queen room. All rates around the airport were high for this week. I initially booked a cancelable rate at The Pullman for $19 less. Then decided saving $19 wasn't going to be worth the time I'd waste, cost of Uber and the fact Pullman charge for internet.

Thinking back to previous stays, $177 seems to be pretty much what I've usually paid.

For New Year's Eve it did not jack up the pricing. You do have to know the train stops working so it will be a taxi to get back to your hotel room as Uber go surge pricing on that night.

Went to book on line but it didn't recognise my membership, so I called.

Got a rate of $160 queen Vs $198 king but no points. That'll do me.

Edit: I may not get dining discount, though but I think I'll still be in front.

We booked at Sydney Airport Rydges for the first time on our last International trip a couple of months back, and are booked again in a few weeks from now and already booked for next July.

I typically book a refundable room with the food and bev credit, and look at it as a couple of free drinks and a snack the night before we fly. This time the sleep, dine, fly package. $235 I think for the night, in an airport view room. So we can hang out, watch some planes from the room, have dinner in the city, take the train back and have a nightcap at the hotel ("free" thanks to the $35 - $50 food and bev credit, plus my free members drink, which the bartender actually comped 3 for my last stay) - I find there food average though.

With 1 minute walk to check-in, I never have to worry about airport traffic. Example, for our 1215 departure on SQ, we would need to arrive at 915 to be 3 hours early. That means on a NORMAL day, I need to leave at around 730 (we live in the Southern Highlands and have to take M5), if we park on-site, otherwise add more time. Say we park at our friends in the inner west and uber to the airport, now we are leaving before 7... Peak hour on the M% and the tunnel = an unhappy camper.

I like to arrive early, stroll through the airport, browse duty free, get my GST refund, etc.... If we hit big traffic, the time could totally blow out, and my blood pressure would go through the roof...

Not having to worry about the drive, etc. and no last minute packing, makes the night before the holiday so much more relaxing, I sleep like a baby, and get an extra 2+ hours of sleep, and don't have to worry about losing any F lounge time. :)

We stayed here last week for 2 nights. The day prior to arrival we were offered $30pn upgrade from standard Queen to King airport view room which we refused. Good thing, as we were offered the upgrade free at check-in. Spent some enjoyable hours plane spotting with the aid of the Flightradar app.
