SC run on AA

Hi,

I'm over in the US and Canada until the end of the year, so I thought I'd a do a bit of a SC run on a KUP fare over here, to get myself to Platinum (only 300sc req'd)

Firstly a question: Are the "Instant Upgrade" (Booking Code P) fares on AA still credited as First class SC's on Qantas?

If so, I've found a SC run for US$706US (DEN-DFW-ATL return) for 360 SC's
That's about the best I can find out of DEN (I need to depart & return on DEC 16)

Secondly, does anyone have any better suggestions for a SC run out of DEN?

If you book a KUP and travel in First Class then it should credit as First Class under the QFF scheme.

Yeah thanks for the help guys.

I did find farecompare.com and I saw the Green Bay fare. However I wouldn't return to Denver until 11pm, and I have to drive to Aspen that night, so I don't think that'll happen

Also - I was just concerned about the Booking code, because I have read a bit about the fact it is not a "true" first class fare, so i just wanted to ensure I would be credited with first SC's before I spent $750

The two ORD/GRB segments on the RJ145 book into Y class, earning 2x20 SC's. The DEN/DFW/ORD segments book into P earning 4x90 SC's, a total of 400.

Also, it's a dangerous time of year to head for ORD/GBY, it can get mightily snowy/cold and weather delays are common.

The Aspen issue is something you can't work around so it's moot.

ATL is a far warmer option. (It gets pretty cold in DEN as well).

I've ended up booking DEN-DFW-ATL-ORD-DEN.

I have an hour and a half at ORD. Am I able to access the First lounge? AA policy notes I can't, but what about for a QFF member (SG) traveling in First?

Also - I went to book the fare, came to $50 cheaper - So a total of US$684 for 360 SC's .... not bad methinks

How do you book KUP fares.

Airline Tickets and Airline Reservations from American Airlines | AA.com of course but how do you select the fare you want.

I am sure I have read it here but too lazy to do a search.

And if you have a US credit card with a Australian billing address I guess this makes it easier to do the booking and you only need to ring India to give them the QF frequent flyer number.

My tips:

Search on AA.com, select Search by Price and Schedule, click Advanced Search, then select Business/First for Cabin.
The fare you're looking for is 'Instant Upgrade'

I'd appreciate it if somebody could please give me the definition of YUP, YUPP, KUP etc and exactly what they imply. All I can deduce is they involve AA and good SC earnings by flying in a discounted first class fare bucket that credits full first class SCs.

HNL-LAX-BOS-DFW-LAX-HNL, around 7 December for about US $2200, 690 SCs. Cheapest Qantas flight (SYD-HNL-SYD) I could find at that time was just under A$1300. Any other suggestions for better value for money? It doesn't seem that good to me.

That airfare looks a little high. Book the trip as 2 one-ways HNL-LAX-DFW-BOS and then BOS-DFW-LAX-HNL for ~US$1512 and 780 SCs.

You would need to be WP to access the ORD FL on your itinerary.

A/C access only; make sure you get those drink vouchers.

F/L access by "class of travel" is only available for when traveling First class on Non-Stop, Three-Class Transcontinental Flights when booked in F or Z (P or A don't cut it).

Also, is there a limit on the number of sectors we can use to make our way to HNL from the East coast?

The particular fare is a 14 day advance purchase with the following routing rules:

What this means is that you can connect through one or more of these cities, but only once. Conceivably you could do them all, but in reality it's impractical/impossible.
