Scams like these

Just had a very scary email, IF I had a driving licence, had a car and lived in NSW.
We all know that the NSW RTA is now NSW RMS (Roads and Maritime Services), but it has it now that scammers have my full real name, and also my email address.
Had this email asking me to print something from NSW RMS E-toll.
After a google search, it (the real RMS) says they are aware of the scam.
Probably the scammers want me to open something, or print a fake bar code or fake QR code.
I did hover over the sender, and indeed, it wasn't from the NSW authority, but something
French or European language.
I would dare say, that someone ebay seller must have onsold my details.

I was just told a story by a mutual friend of a man who’s in his mid-80s who flew to SCL. He waited outside the airport for his son to pick him up, but 2 man approached him and said who are you waiting for and he gave them his son’s name and they said using the son’s name that he had sent them to pick his father up.

They apparently took him to ATMs where he withdrew thousands of dollars and then they dropped him at a hotel where the son found him.

Wow.
That must have been a scary experience.
Sad though those men would pick to scam an old man.

Been getting calls on my mobile this morning feigning from "Lismore" ATO number - robo-call telling me I'm going to court for not paying my taxes LOL.

I keep saying to my self why do they bother with that cough (same robo-call message for last 6-7 years filled with Americanisms), but then I remember how many gullible people there are all around me.

I love the block feature on iPhone. I used it yesterday on a couple calls from Burundi.

My folks received this on their landline and it went to messagebank. Being over 65 they thought this sounded legitimate so had me come over and hear for myself. I could tell straight away it was fake. But i feel sorry for older people who don't have someone to support them weed through these things.

well I am over 65 and I wouldn’t have thought it was legit! I am glad your folks have you to support them, but don’t put all older folk in the same basket :) :).

Jeez, I hate to say it but 65 was quite a while ago for me.

Need to tell your folks about the fake (Aust accent though, what the ...) robo call from the Aust National Broadband Network, your service is going to be cancelled, press 1 to speak with a technician.

If only they would cancel it and give me back that lovely copper wire.
Heh!
If only.
You could try and ask though when your turn to get called comes.
Being aware its a scam call though, just to see what happens next in their script, ... will it lead to problems with your computer or fishing for more info about the person they called.

I love the specificity of 620,152 British pounds. I would have been satisfied with 620,151 British Pounds. But I am comforted that my data will be protected.

Current location or nationality '(are)' not important...
A person schooled in proper English would have written (is) not important.
Ergo its either an Indian or Russian or African scammer.

I probably have had the first attempt at a scam on my mobile. The phone identified it as a scam.the number was from St.Lucia,West Indies.
