I rarely get any spam emails in my hotmail account but today one got through to the Inbow today from a gmail account which consisted of 8 numbers. The title obviously fooled hotmail being - Donald J Trump.

this email evaded the gmail filters and appeared in my inbox.
had to think twice about subscription renewals, but it is vague on exactly what, although very precise on product codes etc,
There is no postcode 9837, and Kalgoorlie is in WA not NSW.

Have had several more like the one I posted earlier covering "Membership Renewal" "Sales Invoice Attached" "Sorry for the Refund delay" etc etc, all with a distinct lack of detail.
More interesting was a couple of the emails had all the addressees visible - eg around 400 addresses on each email.
I was tempted to do a reply all with SCAM in big letters, but then figured better not to confirm my own address.
Was also tempted to post an image here of the emails with all the addresses but thought that would be inappropriate.

Had a Westpac one yesterday, www(.)cancel-westpac(.)com or something.
From 0403797630.
Havent had a WBC account in years.
And had closed it years ago.
Strange that only the ph # I used for ebay purchases has all the linkt and other scams.
Othre ph # is very few.

Had a call from My Heritage today trying to upsell me. 🤣
Next time, if you are a Heritage Bank member, ask them why they onsold QTMC to EML payments.

Another from Donald J Trump yesterday but also from the same email account one from Barack Obama.
Now what's the chance of those 2 sharing a gmail account. :D

I got an email telling me my Linkt account was overdrawn as my credit card on file had expired. Yeah right! Into the junk folder.

I drove on a tollway recently and my etag beeped multiple times. Seems my account was overdrawn because my credit card on file had expired.

I guess not every scam is actually a scam!

On some of the newer smart mobile phones, you can block by prefix.
If you don't know anyone in Qld, for eg, you can block +617, haven't had a pling from anyone there, on neither of both my mobiles.
Pity home phones can have the same done with them, ie, block both.
Always wondered why is it that Qld seems to be the state the "scammers" always pick, to send their calls from, on the home phone, it always list many times, 07 area code.

^ Interesting you’re being targeted with Queensland numbers, scam calls to me come from everywhere in Oz, albeit probably more mobile numbers than landline ones.

It’s probably due to differences in the lists we’re respectively on.

Re: the Qld based, or supposedly Qld based calls, are on the home phone, its one of the uniden ones that shows spoofed/non spoofed caller details.
On the mobile phone side, I wouldt put it past those sellers on ebay.
Cant be 100% sure, but the phone number I dont use for ebay, is very quiet.
Its more so the ebay one.
But I will keep an eye out from future "friendly scam sms".
Cant block 04/614 as that would block all.
Tho, maybe the way to do is to blcok all, and then allow contacts only to come through.

I’ve got numerous friends in various states & countries who’re admittedly not likely to call, but might … generally works for me not to answer unless the number’s in the ‘phone (or I recognise it).
Real callers leave a message, and only maybe 1 in 50 scam callers bother.

Well, a certain new channel with m at the front, has just mentioned, that the UK govt is putting Gbp5b on anti scams, where as Aust has just the tooth less (tiger) sub agency of the ACCC called the anti scam centre.

I've had three emails from LinkedIn in the last week with a link to reset my password and I think they are really from LinkedIn - if someone wants to play with my profile then good luck to them

Someone tried to reset my dummy FB account that I never/very rarely use at least 10 times in last 3 weeks.

There are no friends no pics nothing of interest there anyway, just a few market place subscriptions to pick up cheap stuff occasionally.

"Market place"... that's why they want your profile. (And sorry you don't have any friends 😁)

Well, at the least we can consider each other virtual "colleagues", maybe not friends, except those that have met IRL.
Had another 617, have added the # to blocked and deleted.
So, putting a +617 into block prefix does not work, so have to block every # that calls.
Sad.

Have you tried “Hiya” app. After I installed haven’t received any bad calls just texts. Could be coincidence, but no harm in trying.
