Scams like these

Gmail and Hotmail do ok for spam, but I also have an old account with Yahoo... And they are absolutely garbage at blocking anything.

I hope she's honest, 3rd parties mixing up the email addresses likely goes both ways.

Oh, and how much is a kitchen reno on Long Id?
heaps - I think I deleted everything but they had all new appliances

Woke up this morning and found a notification from google wallet of an Amex payment made overnight to Atlas Coffee Company (i dont drink coffee, and the company doesnt deliver to Aus). No sign of any charge in my Amex account online, but rang Amex anyway and they've cancelled the card, and are deleting the online account associated with it.

An hour later and i get a delivery notice failure on my main email account for an email i never sent so i assume someone spoofed my email address. In the body of the email is what looks like a Facebook notification for a new device login in India using an Iphone.

Coincidence that they happened so close or are they related? 🤔🤷‍♀️

No links on this one. Are they expecting me to actually call and clarify?
Good price though, except they are probably US$.
The Oz phone number appears real, belonging to Symbio Networks Pty Ltd.
I know nothing of this company, and while I can imagine their number may be spoofed on calls or even shown as a link that has other info behind it. Seems strange their actual number would be used for an enquiry call.

Is that a phone number or a TFN (Tax File Number)? 😜

Oh boy. Coworker got scammed but its because she got a scam text pretending to be her bank, she clicked the link, phoned the number on the text, gave them all her info, date of birth, credit card numbers ect - just spilled her guts.

In the meantime the actual bank was trying to contact her and she thought the bank was the scammers so gave the actual bank a hard time and incorrect information.

Its a mess. Her accounts are now frozen for 30 days. She opened different bank account for her payroll but had to borrow money from family until pay cycle.

Incidentally guess what our IT security training only a week ago was about.....

I booked a restaurant for a group last week using seven rooms. I've received two emails from them - one thanking me for coming and one asking for a review. Neither of them have an option to opt out or unsubscribe - is anyone aware if this is a requirement

As you have a business relationship with them, they do have a right to communicate with you regarding that relationship or specifically about that transaction. So a confirmation/thank you message and seeking a review for your interaction is probably considered acceptable.

However, I would consider any further marketing/promotional emails as spam and such communications should include a method to opt-out of further communications (i.e. unsubscribe).

In some locations such opt-out option is required to activated from a single click. But I believe Australia does not have a single click unsubscribe law, so it may require a little more than a single click to convey your request to unsubscribe - sometimes 2 or 3 clicks, answer an "are you sure" message or may need to confirm the email address being unsubscribed.
