Scams like these

I'm really getting very peed off with the Indian call centre purporting to be from the Telstra Business centre wanting to give better line and call charges off our business phone lines. I get 2 or 3 of these calls a week at work. Very similar M.O. to the ones that call at home wanting to "fix" your computer. Today, I had the initial legwork guy hand me off to his supervisor. "Yes, we're from Telstra", "yes, we look after your account", and yet they can't tell me how many lines I have or the phone numbers on the account etc. They're bloody hard to get off the line sometimes; their tenacity is frustrating and it's a challenge to stay in professional mode.

We had a house full of guests on Saturday so took turns answering our phone in various languages. Kept telling 'Telstra' that we don't
have a phone. The poor guy was very Confused

I got an email about a share portfolio I obviously had forgotten I had.Not only that I have dione spectacularly in the last 2 weeks.
Unfortunately it comes from sellingsquid com.Not a broker I have heard of!

I do enjoy getting them when they ring work.

After saying, "You have called the emergency services. What is the nature of the emergency?", they can't get off the phone quick enough.

Perhaps try the 'this is a call answering service, can I please take your details and I'll pass them on to the client' routine?

Had one too
I kept asking was he from Telstra and not a reseller
After repeating it 5 or 6 times he hung up on me
I had another call me trying to flog wine
I told him I was a recovering alcoholic and then asked if I had any family or friends I might like to buy a gift for
They never give up
I have however worked out how to piss off the solar system Floggers... I tel them I have it already it heats my spa my swimming pool my HWS and costs me nothing for electricity
When they say sorry and want to go I keep them talking and say don't go don't go I want to tell you how wonderful it is
After a while they hang up and get sick of me telling them how great it is
I don't have any solar panels at all !!

Just get an answering machine!

or answer with "StKilda Police Station, how can we help. " but I suppose that's a giveaway...

I love playing see how quickly you can get them to hang up.

My best is normally asking them for their name pretending I am writing it down, with next their address - to which I get the reply of why I need their address ..... Because we need to bill you for this call, so I am setting up an account to charge out the time consumed on this call .... And they are gone!!!

Another one I like is when they ask what type of business we are, reply that we are an illegal prostitution ring or illegal immigrant smugglers and count down the seconds till they hang up or piss one self laughing when they start inquiring what that kind of business involves getting deeper and deeper into finer details of what that might involve until finally click and they go.

Somewhat amazingly in the four weeks since I switched to VOIP
- one ported Telstra number (that is geographical)
- and one extra Sydney DID

Have not received a single scam call, or even survey
