Scams like these

We have changed our phone answering now... when we answer we no longer say anything! It is usually apparent if it's a call centre from the background noise. Holding the line but not responding gets your call terminated in 3 seconds. Sometimes they will say 'good evening Mel-T' but resisting the urge to answer is usually a good option. If it's a genuine call they will call back.

Never had a call back yet.

The Post Office scams still keep coming:

A courier was unable to deliver your item to the address for the reason: recipient was away.
LINK REMOVED and attend a post office to receive the package.
REQUEST LABEL LINK REMOVED
If the packaging isn't picked up within 30 operating days We can have the reason to declare compensation from you for it's keeping in the total 2.12 $ to each day of preserving.

We will only collect personal information from you that's necessary to provide the product or service or to carry out internal administrative functions, or any other personal information you submit to us. We collect different personal information depending on the product or service that you have requested.

Better hurry on down to the post office.....

Mum called me yesterday. Apparently the tax department is taking me to court for not paying my tax on time. This I believe is from a recording.

She was worried because I am having some issues. I said to her if it was genuine the ATO would not have that information on a recorded line. Thanks mum.

I'd like to get my hands on these maggots masquerading as human beings.

I have just started getting rubbish sales emails from iCloud. Anyone else getting them, should I be worried? There is of course something in the body of the email to click on.

Another Australia Post email. Do they ever give up trying to harm others?

"The mailman did not deliver your item to your home thus no one was home. Print label and arrive at post office to collect your package."

We were home. The mailman didn't bother delivering. Oh and we don't have access to printer. Sorry.

Paypal wants me this time.

"All you need to do is to click the button "Update" And logging in there and updating your informations!, and remember to update your informations after logging in. We will give 3 days to update your informations or we will suspend your account forever."

Wouldn't want my account suspended forever. Finally have money in there. It'd be much easier to believe the email if they made some effort in learning to spell.

Got this email today;
""prozac, I have some cute pix for you"
Hi. I enjoyed your pics last week and you looked sexy. You have to see some of my pics. I know we could play naughty."

Sexy? Must have been very old photos.

It would seem that "apparent" ladies on skype would like to have me as a contact...

Happy wandering

Fred

I get very Questionable people trying to friend me on LinkedIn

Marki thanks for posting that comment. If I could figure out how to delete my account I would get out of that hell hole.
When one of our staff passed away I tried to get his account closed for about 2 years.
We then had a former employee say he was still working for us for a further 18 months.

Oh linked in I figured out how to unfollow people but then they come back asking to be followed had no idea it's was so had hard to cancel an account with Linked in. Will investigate cove. I managed with Facebook.

Thanks Marki....you figure out how to exit and then let us know.
Even faking death won't work it seems.

When I receive a personalised email (name and email matched) I wonder if this is because of link ed in.

I never used to receive many scam emails... Until a few months ago, around the time that coincided with the linkedin servers being compromised. Now I receive a steady stream... Coincidence? Unlikely.

You may have heard reports recently about a security issue involving LinkedIn. We would like to make sure you have the facts about what happened, what information was involved, and the steps we are taking to help protect you.
What Happened?
On May 17, 2016, we became aware that data stolen from LinkedIn in 2012 was being made available online. This was not a new security breach or hack. We took immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of all LinkedIn accounts that we believed might be at risk. These were accounts created prior to the 2012 breach that had not reset their passwords since that breach.
What Information Was Involved?
Member email addresses, hashed passwords, and LinkedIn member IDs (an internal identifier LinkedIn assigns to each member profile) from 2012.
What We Are Doing
We invalidated passwords of all LinkedIn accounts created prior to the 2012 breach that had not reset their passwords since that breach. In addition, we are using automated tools to attempt to identify and block any suspicious activity that might occur on LinkedIn accounts. We are also actively engaging with law enforcement authorities.
LinkedIn has taken significant steps to strengthen account security since 2012. For example, we now use salted hashes to store passwords and enable additional account security by offering our members the option to use two-step verification.
What You Can Do
We have several dedicated teams working diligently to ensure that the information members entrust to LinkedIn remains secure. While we do all we can, we always suggest that our members visit our Safety Center to learn about enabling two-step verification, and implementing strong passwords in order to keep their accounts as safe as possible. We recommend that you regularly change your LinkedIn password and if you use the same or similar passwords on other online services, we recommend you set new passwords on those accounts as well.
