Scams like these

Got an email purporting to be from the CommBank today asking me to do a survey. Happened to be watching the 7.30 report at the same time where an identity theft story was playing.

The email said that I would receive a message through NetBank. I logged into NetBank through my bookmark and no message.

Rang CommBank and was told that the wording was not what they would use and please forward it to [email protected]

Everything else looked so very legitimate with genuine logo and no spelling or grammatical errors.

These scum are getting better. Be very careful!

Another start to the day - A call from "Telstra's technical department"

Oh! I had them call today.

Apparently, I had complained about my broadband service (which I had, as I'm sure many have), and if I could just provide them with with my account #, DOB, address and some other ID #. Hang on? you called me? You should know all that already. Click!

1 hour later, same deal, different person. Told them politely where the appropriate, shadowy place is to stick this current call. Click again!

Pity that India does not have a common dialect.
Otherwise we could learn the language and have a deep "meaningful" conversation.
Chordee is supposed to be a bad word in Hindi.
But the fake employee might be a Tamil.
Mmm... I will always remember an Indian lady who rang and asked for a Mr Poochie but the phone account is in the initials of Mrs Poochie a relative.
Ask which Mr Poochie, she went into her spiel. Virus on my computer.
I put the phone on hook, no more calls.

Today, I got an email from 'Jetstar' saying that I have been selected to do a survey and get a gift card. Highly suspicious.
I got one of these a few weeks ago. Seemed quite genuine to me and I actually gave Jetstar good feedback apart from the standoff gate in BNE.

ATO being very generous again. If only the could learn to spell amount. But it is good
to see that they scan for viruses.

I am very cautious. And, seeing as I last flew JQ about 6 + years ago, I didn't have much to tell them.

I got one of these a few weeks ago. Seemed quite genuine to me and I actually gave Jetstar good feedback apart from the standoff gate in BNE.

Had a good one this week that got SWMBO. Expecting a package in the mail. Company sent email saying it would arrive today. All legit so far.

An hour later she gets email from AusPost saying to pick up the package from Auspost in same city but not our closest one. She asks me to go from work with a screenshot of the email (alarm bells!).

I go, Auspost tells me that the package was picked up this morning by someone with a different surname! They can't help any further.

I ring the original company and they said that they never dispatched the package. Anyone know what is going on here? Very weird.

Got one of the Telstra calls today. The "your internet will be disconnected, you must install this software etc" cough.

I played it along for a bit. Once it was clear I hadn't installed said software (he was asking for me to input a password or something into it and it clearly wasn't working for him) I got some quality feedback about what he'd do to my mother and the number of bombs that were being placed in my house. I was then randomly transferred to another Indian woman who had an even more dirty mouth!

Came through from a Melbourne number but they were clearly Indian

Gotta love em, nothing better than a frustrated scammer!!

Got this apparently from BA, looks like a scam, or have they have borrowed the IT work experience kids from Qantas. Very unprofessional looking email.

I got one in last few days which I took as genuine, although did not do anything about looking at the offers. I believe ba.com resolves to britishairways.com
