Booked the XF with delivery to the hotel, 2nd driver free and sat nav. :)

Its diesel but he guy said we should have no problem with finding diesel, he drives diesel himself he said.

Booking a standard car would have us paying extra for the 2nd driver and buying a sat nav (I dont like using the phone).

Wonder if I can pay for a Fiat dealer to drop by with a Fiat at the hotel at 9.30am on car drop off day :)

Odd comment on the diesel - I've never stopped at a servo here that didn't have it!

So there I was, waiting to book the car and then this happened...

We unfortunately do not have the Jaguar XE 3.0 available, we can however off you the Jaguar XF V6 for the same rate.

Am I in trouble?
Only for speeding fines. :)

Take the XF for the same price. What a sacrifice!

XF V6 diesel will be faster than you can use. 2016 Jaguar XF Review | CarAdvice

Or get a Fiat as above.:p

I asked if we would have issues as diesel seems to be on the nose a bit in the UK.

But not like we're driving the autobahn so should be good.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a servo in the UK that doesn’t serve Diesel

Stalking the weather forecasts, we arrive their Thursday their time and hopefully it looks like it going to start heading towards double digits by the weekend, fingers crossed, but packed today, polar tec, thermals ect.

Arrival day plan is to walk around the Royal Mile (hotel is around the corner), massage, pick up my Argos order next door to hotel, nap and head out a few hours for dinner/look around but taking it easy. Fingers crossed.

Currently trying to deal with Etihad over driver, as we booked so long ago/before they changed the driver benefit so we're entitled to it.

Best ay scottish luck.

If weather inclement, remember the Scottish Whisky experience (name?) on the Golden (Royal) Mile.:p

We booked our flights before EY changed their comp driver service rules. We were told at the time that bookings made before ABC date will continue to get driver service, inc reward seats.

Then Etihad changed our flight time by 5mins and said we were no longer entitled to driver service because original booking changed. Yes, changed but changed by them was my argument so we should still be entitled for home-Syd, EDI-hotel and SYD-home service.

Took a couple of hours but Etihad finally confirmed driver pickup so now waiting for phone confirmation from driver.

But I have a plan B, just in case.

LOL. Should have flown EK to Glasgow.:)

And there's always UBER who have a 5 points per $ (or something) deal with QF Points to and from airports (in Australia).

This was a VA point redemption so EK wasnt an option :(

I have my usual driver service as backup but usually I have him booked by now - but it was a promised benefit, just wish they didnt leave it to 24hrs out as it would be rude to phone our driver so late.

Another that will be reading your TR with interest .... just waiting for May to tick around so I can book a couple of F awards to the UK / Scotland.

For reference, we managed QFF awards to GLA on EK and MAD-BNE return. All in F via Qantas FF web site.

Finally, overnight, we got email confirmation of Etihad driver service pickup from home to airport. Which makes the planner in me twitch and wish I didnt bother and just spent the $ arranging my driver but thinking happy thoughts and hoping there will be a driver at EDI (otherwise its a taxi for us).

It was over a year ago that my husband said, "I would like to see some castles", and the Not Another Bloody Castle Tour was born (he wouldnt let me put that on a tshirt). I dont think as much planning went into Easter Island as much as this one.

Tesco click and collect order made (water, toiletries ect). Argos order made (specialty pillow for hubby, boot protector for my car excess/dont scratch the paintwork with the bags!). Massage booked at Radison Blu spa on arrival day/before afternoon nap.

J reward seats with Etihad. Qatar & Emirates PJs courtesy of a couple of AFF member (thank you very much).

Due to many posts of support for hubby here, Jaguar booked for 19 days (I still think we should get the Fiat 500).

Seems that Hilton coming to the party as well and so far looks like Suite upgrades for a couple of our stays. Even the weather starting to climb to double digits by the weekend!

Many thanks for all the ideas and advice, I hope to see a lot but at a relaxed pace. Will be posting photos as we go.

:D
