SCs to be earned on Velocity Reward bookings (6mo promotion) [AusBT]

Inquiring minds would like to know... Failing that I would assume that business reward is one of those 3 classes, (X, P or Z) maybe?

Edit: A quick prod at the booking engine says H for business reward so I'm guessing not - happy to be corrected if wrong! Still might be a good time to burn some points methinks.

With the Sabre change I think the 'H' class is no longer used and is replaced with X for Y, P is for PE and Z is J. It was on one of the Sabre updates for travel agents doing the rounds as part of the fare restructure. Sorry but cant remember the link.

Can anyone clarify what class domestic Y will book into for SC purposes? Would they be discount or full economy?

Where do you find the booking class on the itinerary? I got a business reward back when it was 6900 points. Wonder if I will earn SCs on these?

The promotion states that flights must be booked and flown between the two dates.

I missed out on double SCs SYD-LAX in Y+ last year because I'd booked 5 days before they sent me the double SCs email, and I was spewing!

I understand that DJ bookings will change to the VA fare classes, so if in Business class it will become Z

Just having a look at the conditions for this offer (which i could swear has changed since initially offered) - and it is now stating:

To be eligible for this offer, you must book and travel on a Virgin Australia (VA) marketed and operated flight in a Reward Seat Fare Class (X, P or Z) between 13 January and 30 June 2013, and all flights must be booked and ticketed directly by Velocity Frequent Flyer (featuring a ticket number beginning with "795"). Economy Reward Seat bookings will earn Status Credits at the Discount Economy rate, Premium Economy Reward Seat will earn at the Premium Economy rate and Business Reward Seat will earn at the Business rate.

(i've added the bold). I'm wondering where one can find this ticket number for the reward flights I've booked since 13 Jan (including the OOL-MEL-SYD Business for 13800pts )? There's another HBA-DPS style fare i've got my eyes on...

I've booked a couple of reward seats over this period - just checked the ticket numbers on virtuallythere and they do start with '795' - don't know where you look on the Virgin site as I can't currently see any of my future bookings (have been told its a problem with the system change).........

Now that they have moved to being a ticketed airline through Sabre, when you receive a reservation confirmation there will be a Ticket number for each guest on the booking, this is a unique identifier for that person on that booking with specific conditions etc... Any time you make a change to your reservation however small it provides you a new ticket number as the information is different. You may well find that your old pre sabre reservation is not eligible. Though if they reissue the confirmation to you and it has a "ticket" number on it then you are okay!

Thanks KCMil, found them on the original email itinerary itself. And they all do have the 795 ticket number. Phew.

In the Fare Rules is the Fare Basis where I find the reward fare class, it has Fare Basis ZZDAU and I booked business reward.

795 is the airline ticket code for VA - i.e., for this promotion to apply the ticket must have been issued by VA.

Hi notzac, yes ticket is 795...VA metal etc, understand that part but didn't the reward seat class need to be a X, P or Z as well? is there more than one reward seat class for business rewards?

I have one in a couple of weeks. This would be nice if it continued.

I think part of the reason it did was I flew on the 13th... Amongst all the cutover.
My BP from Mel to Per actually wasnt printed untill I arrived in MEL, as they couldnt check me in until then and it came up on Sabre with a Z class fare.

BNE to MEL was on the old system and has Q listed as the fare class, so just expecting the flexi SCs from that, but they are yet to post.

You're right of course, it also needs to be booked as a reward fare. Here's my translation of the T&C's of this promotion:

To earn Status Credits on a reward fare with Virgin Australia, you must do ALL of the following:
  • Travel on a Reward fare (see below)
  • Complete the booking directly with Virgin Australia between 13 Jan 2013 and 30 Jun 2013
  • Book flights that are marketed with a VA flight number in the booking engine
  • Fly on flights between 13 Jan 2013 and 30 Jun 2013 that are operated by Virgin Australia
Reward flights must be in the following fare classes to be eligible for Status Credit earn:
  • X (Economy Reward) - earns at the Discount Economy rate
  • P (Premium Reward) - earns at the Premium Economy rate
  • Z (Business Reward) - earns at the Business rate

Hmmm... so does that exclude flights that have a VA number, but are operated by Alliance or Skywest? That'd be interesting and something to watch out for. For example, flights CNS-BNE, there is one Alliance flight a day on the F100. Assuming this is correct, then if you happened to choose that flight, then you have failed the conditions.

Agree?

Following the strictest interpretation of the rules - yes, I agree.

Surely the fare classes are mentioned because those are the "classic" awards as opposed to the any seat awards which have a different earning structure ie status and points.
