Hi all,

Last time I took a CX flight (actually several), they were ticketed through CX and I was able to easily select my seats through the CX website (Retrieve Booking Details, Change Seat, Order Special Meal- Cathay Pacific Hong Kong). Which was great as CX allow you to select exit rows for free as a OWE, and those exit rows have a LOT of room.

I have quite a few CX flights coming up in Jan/Feb and would like to do the same, although they've have been ticketed through QF. I can select some of the seats via the QFF site (SYD-HKG but none of the other flights), but given QF's interfacing issues with CX, I'm not convinced we'll get the seats we've selected (exit row).

Any advice on how we can best give ourselves a chance of keeping the exit row? Call CX?

Also, what's the best approach for AA flights? The QF site wouldn't let us select seats (only Aisle/Window), but has allocated random seats all over the planes for a number of AA flights (2 pax not even sitting together most of the time, despite being on the same ticket :\). The BA site recognises the QF booking reference, but the AA site doesn't seem to (I'm sure I used to know a way to do this...)

Appreciate any help. :)

Edit: On the same topic - QF have given us seats in row 43 for QF16 LAX-BNE...yet I can't find any 744 configs that have a row 43??

Cheers,
- Febs.

I can't help you with the main part of your post, sorry, but as for row 43 QF16 744, I checked that flight on Expertflyer for today (I don't know when you are flying) and it looks like this:

If its right, row 43 looks like the first row in Y with PE in front of you ending at row 39

KVS thinks similarly:

Thanks Moopere. Not a bad spot then. All the QF and Seatguru maps I could find all had configs that were missing row 43, but that explains it.

Just use the PNR or eticket number and log in to manage my booking in the CX website and AA website. The cx site is a little clunky but you can select seats there easily.

You will need to call to get the AA Sabre reference. Then login to AA direct and choose your seats - there is no interfacing with QF.

I've never ticketed on QF for CX, but I was ticketed on AA for CX - all I did was call and get my CX ref number and select seats online with CX. Your QF PNR may work directly.

If you log in to http://classic.checkmytrip.com with your QF PNR and last name, it should have the CX and AA PNRs displayed. Once you have those, log in to the AA and CX sites to select seats. Failing that, call QF and ask for the PNRs.

OMG thank you notzac. When they changed the regular chackmytrip a few months ago I couldn't understand why, it became useless to me. classic in front and there it is again!

Thanks for all the replies.

The eTicket numbers are QF eTickets and the CX website only accepts CX/KF eTicket numbers, so no luck there (tried before posting the thread). I also tried CheckMyTrip after posting last night, and got the specific CX and AA refs, but neither website recognise them for some reason? Edit: Hmm, AA site seems to be working now. CX still no good, and QF are having the same issue with my reference.

The exit row seats I selected for CX on the QF site seem to have transferred to the BA site, so I'm reasonably-ish confident they'll stick. Will keep an eye on it.

Cheers :)

Thanks for the tip - PNRs are displayed but as above, no luck with the CX websites.

Gotta say, I do love the way AA, BA and CX all recognise OW status and allow exit row selection (albeit CX only via the phone it seems). :)

Cheers,

Sorted - CX site wants to read my first name as <Firstname><Middle initial>. :)

Thanks for all the help! :)
