Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Interested in hive mind thoughts on A389 13JK for QF1 & 2 (J class) - seat guru says can be noisy due to proximity to galley and toilets (upper deck) are we better to move back into larger business cabin behind? We are flying in August/September
Emerald city (QF A380 upstairs rows 11-13) as it’s called by those in the know is pretty good. I would sit there. The galley is pretty quiet.

Unless you want a window seat, the middle 2 - E/F is better as both has direct aisle access whereas K will have to climb over J and J has K climbing over them.

Rows 11, 12 and 13 are default go to fo me; preferable 13 - never had a galley based issue there but the 'bar/lounge' in front of 11J/K can occasionally get somewhat 'noticeable'.

Note that if a couple I'd always take A/B, J/K on these as the side storage is invaluable; saves one from popping up into aisle to access the OHSB's; As a single it's A or K for me in the same way. It's not difficult to access the aisle from A or K, even if the B/J seat is in bed mode.

I was an E/F aficionado until I inadvertently found the usefulness of the side storage.

QF have changed our 81DEF to 51HJK for both QF7 and QF8. Nice!

I'm guessing there were two lots of passengers w/ babies that booked recently and they shifted us.

A330-200 23K (bulkhead - day flight but I would most likely nap)
A380 32K (bulkhead - night flight)

How bad is the legroom for the two bulkhead seats above?

Just an update on this now that I am back. For a 5'7
A330-200 24D - With my heels on the floor, I was able to stretch out fully. It does look to me that the middle bulkhead seats provide more legroom than 23ABJK. Will definitely pick this seat again (maybe not for a night flight due to the proximity to the bassinet).

A380 32K - I managed to try this seat while we disembarked. It was slightly restricting and might become uncomfortable for a long flight.

Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to offer some advise for which seat would be best to take for a solo traveller MEL-SIN-LHR at the end of May.

Not fussed with the flight between MEL to SIN, as it's only a short hop, but will be on QF1 from SIN to LHR.

At the moment, as I am on a sale fare, there's not a lot of seats to choose from and have been contemplating the following:

80C/H - Reason being that 80AB/JK are currently blocked out, but hoping that couples or travelling partners may be in these seats, so in 'theory', I am (wishfully) hoping that they will enter/exit their seats from 79B side, thus not needing to go past me.

66D/G - Bulkhead seat, not fussed if there are parents/kids (I have 2 young kids, so not perturbed), but same logic as above, with a little extra leg room, then anyone choosing to be in 66E/F can then get around me easily without the need to disturb me... downside is no storage for bags in front.

70E - I'm only 5' 6" so the narrow seat doesn't phase me. Downside is that the person in the middle has 2 options to exit, so 50/50 chance of being disturbed

71E - With 71D blocked out, I was thinking this one might be a good option, as I'm hoping there's sufficient room for myself to slide in and out of my seat given there is no seat in front of 71D... unless of course the person sitting in 71D is 7' 2"... might be a bit tricky to get past!

84G - This one is more random I guess, as 84D & E are blocked out with 84F & G available... what would the chances be that F would get taken up by solo traveller as well?

Any advise or other alternate suggestions, although there are really not much else, would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Cheers,

Moe

As a quick reply, 71E is not that easy to get in/out of according to MrsOatek when I had 71D, and 66D/G would have good legroom for someone of your dimensions. the Row 80/84 options are like any lottery IMO, although 84 is far enough back if the load is lighter to remain free. Are the seats selected or blocked - if you are looking through the QF seat map it is hard to tell, but if you give flight date it an be checked in EF.

Of the seats mentioned, 66D is by far the best option. 66G is ok but is immediatly at the stairs FAs use to access their bunks and may be a little noisier.

Better legroom, no bassinets. Just can't watch IFE gate to gate.

Fully agree seat 66D is your best option and as serfty mentioned avoid 66G due to the door it really is a constant pain with noise and light.

80C and H are options but again I would still go for 66D.

I thought I would put this in here rather than start a new thread. Mrs_G (bronze) and I (Plat) are travelling on QF tickets on Emirates on our economy-class holiday. We ended up with separate itineraries as I changed an existing flight because of work travel.

We want to travel together, and I don't want to pay 4x$30 for her seat next to mine. Is there something I request for from QF to connect the two bookings so that I can use my status and she can eb tagged along?

I haven't experienced this before as normally when I book together she is attached to my booking when I log in and I request two seats.

Yes ring the Plat LIne and ask them to link the two bookings then see if you can select seats together on the EMIRATES website of not then ring them and get them to seat you together. There would normally be no charge just explain the situation.

A new question in the topic of this thread: Can anyone please show/explain to me where the “shared power outlets” are located in Economy seating of a Qantas A330-300? Row 25 if that’s relevant, Thanks! I’ve searched online but apart from being told “shared power outlets are available” there’s no information on where they are.

Where are the power sockets? A QF guide.
