Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

I'd probably say 15EF for a couple. Centre seats, down stairs at the back of the cabin. No one to step over to get to the aisle and very private. Have had this equivalent pair of seats on the BA777.

Also travelled in 53AB as a couple. While 53A is an excellent single seat, the aisle seat has zero privacy and likely to get knocked. Also a bit noisy by the galley. BA crew have no concept of keeping it down at night. Images below show the equivalent on the 777 which should give you some idea.

If you're set on sitting together, I'd go any middle pair of seats. I'd avoid an aisle seat at all costs. If not fussed about sitting together, then upstairs each taking a window seat. Nice having the storage bin up their between the seat and the window.

Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place (still an absolute novice/newbie despite being a member for 10 years apparently so please bear with me on all my mistakes) but can anyone please tell me how QF81 SYD-SIN is looking tomorrow? I haven’t reserved a seat yet (very lowly NB who has just wiped all her points out to pay for this trip) and app won’t let me check on online. Very little availability showing online so thinking I might need to pay to get an aisle. Thanks.

This is the seat map for QF 81 on the 10th. Looks pretty full

Thanks very much pjm99au. Sorry to be a dunce but what do the legends mean with crosses, red dots, yellow dots etc?

Still a reasonable number of aisle seats so perhaps I’ll be alright to check in early tomorrow at the airport before I go to the lounge? I don’t know why I can’t check in online this time.

White seats indicate that these seats are available for selection ( note this can be status dependent and this is being shown from a WP perspective) I could do it from an NB view but it will be what you see.

X indicates the seat is blocked and in this example can’t be selected by WP or lower at this time. These can be left for higher status pax or weight distribution. These will be the ones you are hoping can be opened up when you check in. If I did this from a P1 perspective it would show most if not all as available for selection

The red bar indicates an exit row

Yellow dots is seat guru saying be alert but not alarmed eg proximity to galley

Red dots is seat guru saying be alarmed. Eg toilets

Good luck. If you like, prior to you getting to the airport tomorrow I can post the updated seat map and you could then try asking for specific seats which are either open or still blocked but which they may unblock for you

Hi pjm99au, if you happen to see this soon, I’d love an updated seating chart please, thanks so much.

Thanks so much... I'm in 59e so looking like a spare disabled access seat next to me on the aisle? I have osteoarthritis in my hips and need to get up very frequently so really need an aisle, do you think I need to go and plead my case somewhere?

If there's an aisle seat available it's your for the asking. The disabled access shouldn't preclude you. Note that the armrests will often lift up on aisle seats (check for a small release button on the underside of the armrest, towards the back). This may allow you to slide out easier.

Thanks... there look to be plenty of free aisles but auto check-in at the airport only offered me two middles...the joy of being the lowest of the low NB who has just wiped out her entire balance! I guess I can ask to move on the plane if needs be. Absolutely no one from Qantas to ask at SYD departures! Thanks.

Just go to a check-in counter and seek manual assistance, they can try and change your seat and give you a new boarding pass. Don't want to leave it too late in case someone else comes and takes the seat!

I must be blind as I didn't see any counters with actual people, just bag drops. I'm in the lounge now, I'll worry later I guess.

Does anyone have a QF63 flight coming up soon and if so, can you see the seat selection map? It's coming up with a yellow error box for me. I have already chosen seats for the 4 of us (2+2 at the back) and they are showing as selected however when I go into check them it only gives the option to select window or aisle now with no map available.

It's been like this for a while and Qantas were no help, just want to make sure we dont get dud seats for a 14 hour flight!

The Qantas Club lounge? If so there's the front desk. If in the departures lounge, just approach the podium when someone turns up. But may be getting a bit late now.

I'm surprised you don't have to come into contact with a person during check-in - not least to check your passport and visa requirements!

There is now someone seated in 59D. There should be a Qantas service desk around you can ask at. 53C and K and 56 D are still free

All gone according to lady at the lounge counter... I've been moved to the very back but an aisle is better than none for me... should have asked earlier as suggested, doh! I might be the most hopeless person on this forum I think, so thanks for all your patience!
