Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Could someone please let me know the config of QF6 FRA-SIN on Saturday 28th May?

I pre-allocated 38C last week, but the aircraft has changed. I am now in 34J (2-4-2 config from rows 34-37). I am pretty sure it's a Y+ seat, but want to make sure.

2-4-2 on QF 744/388 represents PE seating.

In this case, you have a 4 Class "Kangaroo Configuration" with the cabins redefined;14 First Class beds on nose (zone A) and upper-deck Skybeds are Business class, lower deck Skybeds are PE and PE/Economy seating for Economy.

Here's the seat map for your flight:

Thank you serfty. I thought that was the case. Here's hoping they won't change the aircraft by then.

A380 - single traveller looking for quiet...

34K or 38K? Currently in 38K for space but concerned it may be a bit too open, 34K is still available and is assumed to be more private but all reports appear to favor 38. Never been in PE cabin on A380 so no idea.

Input appreciated.

Both 34K and 38K are pretty good seats. My preference would be 38K for two reasons. Firstly heaps more leg room and secondly you are not climbing over the person in 38J if you need to get out. :)

Thanks for the reply - I am a bit a camel when travelling but note the comment regarding access. I'll try 38 this time and scope out 34 for the next trip.

Flying BA15 SIN-SYD on 9/5 which is a 773 I think. I'm allocated in Seat 26A which is first row economy + exit row I believe. Aircraft is 3-4-3 configuration. Is this seat any good versus say 26C (aisle)?

Seat choice

Travelling to BN-LAX Y+ QF15 11Oct and returning QF16 16Oct. Can anybody recommend seat preference please?

Re: Seat choice

You will be flying a B 747-400 Longreach, 4 class, and there'd be two possible variants of seating. A quick look on Airline Seating Charts - Best Airplane Seats - SeatGuru shows that both variants do not have any particularly good seats, rather some seats with drawbacks
My guess is you would need to wait till someone who has actually flown this metal shares their experience with their Y+ seating

QF7 SYD-DFW on 25th May 2011

Currently selected 3A but 2E is available as well and shows as better seat on Seat expert (2F is taken). Any experience ? (I picked 3A as it does not have anyone sitting next to me but no sure if this is an issue in 2E/F).

71A or 4 seats in a row - what would you pick on an A380

I'm flying to LAX on Friday in a 380 - QF11, and I was lucky enough to get 71D.
But there are tons of spare seats further back with lots of rows of 4 with no one in them.
I guess I could move back and put my self there, or am I better staying in 71D.

Just curious of others comments as I can't believe how lightly loaded this aircraft appears to be down the back

I don;t believe the flight is that 'lightly loaded'

You should find that in the next day or so, seats start getting allocated.

I would stick with 71D for now.

On QF15 a 4 class "Pacific" configuration aircraft is being used.

PE seats in rows 36 to 39 are being allocated to Economy passengers.

You should try use your SG to snare one of these.

For you return an economy there is a 4 class "Kangaroo" configuration. While the F seats in the nose are being allocated to Business class passengers, there is no further redefinition.

On the way to LAX you can select row 30, the way back is a 3 class so no J seats to be selected.

Flying QF5 SYD-SIN in J late July and just happened to click the select seats option whilst on Qantas to see if any new seats had opened up.

I had been downstairs in the nose, but logging in I found I had been moved upstairs. Odd, I thought, until I clicked on lower deck and was presented with an F cabin seat map with seats free.

Looks like the old 2 class to 3 or 4 class switch.

Needless to say, despite preferring to sit next to Mrs Zeit, I couldn't NOT take the seats in the F cabin (only the single window seats are unoccupied).

I presume this is F cabin with J service?

could someone possibly advise, what are the chances of a Y -> J upgrade request actually being a possibility (or not) for 16th June on QF11?
TIA.

Hi There,

I'm a QFF Gold flyer, wondering if there is any chance of a J upgrade on QF11 June 3 - I requested it over two months ago (if that makes a difference). I'm in Y+.

My ExpertFlyer trial shows 9 J seats available. Not sure if upgrade seats.

TIA.

This thread is for seating, not upgrades.

Post here for that: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ility-loadings-upgrade-probability-25311.html
