Second Ashes Test, Adelaide

Well Strauss was out this morning for 1, off 3 balls faced, bowled by Bollinger.

Good to see the referral system working in the session after lunch when Cook was incorrectly given out because the ball grazed his shirt sleeve.

Currently 1/162.

Nothing much positive for the Aussies. Nice to see Doug with the opening wicket, keep him here for the summer and see how he goes. We need some fierceness in the team and he brings that.

Not much in the wicket for the spinners either.

Here's hoping for a few wickets in the last session!

I think Qantas know that Australia won't score a lot this test and that is why they put on there special fare of $1990 minus what ever is the maximum Australian score for 250 seats to London. They know it won't be even close to 500 runs.

They put on the same special fare for the Brisbane test so I'd say they have decided to have a running promo for the ashes.

England 2 for 327 with a lead of 82 and almost scoring freely! Cook and Trott involved in a 502 run partnership from 2nd innings first test and 1st innings this test.

So the form from the latter part of the first test is holding up. Australia may struggle to bowl England out once in this test. :(

I quite liked how Cook’s average for this series thus far was 405, as he wasn’t out in the second innings of the first test. Though not sure what his average is now. Probably even higher.

Maybe Australia should try and do the same as England, and hold out gingerly for the draw...

England 4/534 and Kevin Pietersen has just scored his 200.

It is quite possible England could get to 650-700 before the end of the day and Australia may need to bat for 2 days to save the match....

Just checking out the rain radar in Adelaide - looks like some clouds to the west...

They do seem to be tracking SE though :-|

Pietersen c Katich b Doherty 227

Just after making his new high score (old was 226) he gets a nick and is caught behind in an awful shot. The commentators remarked "227 of the best runs you’ve ever seen finished with that".

He faced 308 balls, was at the crease for 428 minutes.

It’s 5/568

While Prior was doing really well, racing away to 27, and putting on a partnership of 51 off 33 balls with Bell, England have finally declared at 5/620.

At least we weren't 3/2 like the first innings. What a good first over from Watson (courtesy of cricinfo):

0.6
Anderson to Watson, FOUR, pitched up and fearlessly driven by Watson, who gets well forward and crashes through extra cover. Great technique in the shot, perfectly balanced. What power too
0.5
Anderson to Katich, 1 run, and he's off the pair, shuffling right across in his peculiar fashion and nudging through square leg.

0.4
Anderson to Watson, 1 run, this one goes the other way, nipping back in off the pitch! Watson survives though, picking up the movement early and flicking across his pad into the leg side
0.3
Anderson to Watson, FOUR, edged! But dropping short and wide of third slip. Wouldn't have carried if they'd had a fourth slip, but Watto must've had his heart in his mouth. Definite away movement for Anderson
0.2
Anderson to Watson, no run, curving gently away through the air, but wide and easily left
0.1
Anderson to Watson, no run, length to start, not much through the air or off the pitch. Defended by Watson
