Sounds great and I would love to, but not enough notice and prior commitments this time. I would love to see some photo's

Very tempted... There is a Grand Final that weekend which may make flights / accom difficult, but let me do some research and revert.

Have started arrangements to have the cars put on. The BAM we know, CDAY has been on a previous AFF social gathering, I seem to remember a bunch AFFers watching the cricket and generally lounging!

For anyone thinking about it, this is what's know as a rare mileage trip, the line itself has zero regular trains, no passenger and ad hoc freight as required. The scenery is great as once over the Blue Mountains which has great scenery itself the line tracks north through the Capertee Valley. The line is closed on the north section to Mudgee but we will go to the end of the currently open section.

The final part of the trip is slow, it's wandering through the long grass and arriving at an abandoned station.

I've waited for years to do a BAM trip.
Currently on my way home from FRA, I'll have to check the diary on my return. Sadly I don't see this trip happening for me.

Unfortunately, I'm not in Oz that WE. :(

Bugger. I'm already booked to work all weekend on a implementation 😭

So disappointed I can't join you.

Wow, I've only heard about the legendary BAM... 🤓

Luckily I'm free on the 28th and Sydney-based, so definitely interested!

For those who can make it.

Sydney Terminal (Central) country platforms, probably 1, 2 or 3. Be a bit early (I know it's already too early for a weekend) as they will pull in and shunt the locos to the other end then we can board. The cars will be either on the rear at Central or on the front, come, all you need to do it get on and find a seat in BAM1748 (red like the other cars) or CDAY1 (a stainless steel car) with some blue.

If you need quiet time here are bedrooms to hide in, the 2 cars will be together, bring a few snacks and beveridges of your preferred type, I will put a few things on board. The train will stop at Kandos which may be easier to alight there for lunch as I think most other passengers will go through to Rylstone which will involve 200 people arriving at the pub all together.

The photo shows the previous train 18 months ago stopped at Kandos, note pub in the background a very short walk.
