Cozy! And for those of us with Alzheimers, can you remind us of the time and place details? Plus anything you'd like us to bring?

The cars pull into central platform 1 2 or 3 at 7.07am. Departure is 7.35.

Bring the Beveridges you like, I’ll have some beer and a few softies. I forget to get wine but we can get some for the return.

Maybe bring a coat, hard to know if it’s going to be hot and sunny or windy.

There will be a choice to either alight at Kandos and pub lunch there or continue to Rylstone. The Rylstone option will probably have the pub very crowded.

Should you just wish to sit on the train that’s ok, no need to get off. BYO what ever you like.

There is a buffet car I’ve been told
We can walk through to but we
Might have to walk through the power van.

These trips are a bit of unknown until the day.

Perhaps we need something fortified for the return run!

Cheers

A very sad picture :
How many old railway right of ways are there across the country ?
A bit like digging up the city tram tracks and bewailing the decision down the track

At the end of the line... the end of the lunch20190928_143244.jpg

There are two pubs in Kandos. One was shut, with a mobile phone number on the door. The other pub was very open with a pretty good $10 special.

What a day. Mega-thanks to Matt for organising the day, and to the fellow AFF'ers for their company and hospitality. MrsK and I will be there for the next event

Yes a big thanks to Matt for taking BAM1748 for a big run thru the blue mountains and for our group to Kandos. We were all surprised to see a group of Kandosians were there to welcome and watch the heritage train arrive.
You could see where the last Sydney downpour stopped and where the drought continues.
Matt gets to go to Goulburn to put BAM1748 into a safe storage today until the next run.

AFFers on the way home: a very VERY good time in the BAM, and thanks Matt!

Tech detail: tricky shot lit with an LED torch and shot with an S7 in pretty much compete darkness. Somewhere east of Penrith, travelling at speed after the XPT failed to take up its slot?

The journey is 2 mins away from its end and the cars put to bed.

Thanks to those who came along, as always a good crowd and I think I’ll go back to having bar staff as I didn’t get enough time to talk AFF.

We’re really sorry to have missed this one.
It looks like a lot of work has been done on the BAM since our last trip.

Next time! :)

Thanks to Matt, and of course to the BAM 1748, for great day (and evening) out. I am pleased I was finally able to make a trip and will be back next time if the stars all line up on the day. Thanks to all for the good company and the bubbles !!
