G'day guys,

I need to get 35 SCs before 5 October, ideally at the lowest cost possible. Based in CBR but open to catching a cheap flight at the beginning or end if it makes sense to do the run from somewhere else on the East coast.

Open to any ideas! Missed the double SC promo unfortunately.

I also need 2 eligible sectors, but presumably that will sort itself out anyway.

I'd suggest a one-way choice fare to/from OOL via SYD, the other way direct. each segment earns 15 SC's.

Note that if you fly CBR to SYD, it would be with their provider, (Link).
Maybe go MEL.
Do this:
Phone VA with a "comfort seat request", ie, you are buying the seat next to you as empty, better than paying J, or go that way if you want, Oct 12, CBR - MEL $119 one way, 15 SC, (x2) = 30, you might pay $214, $119 + $95 as you don't pay flight taxes for your shadow, and then come back same day, later on, with a $119 single, giving you 45 VFF SC.

Ah, I see, before 05 Oct.
25 Sept 23, 6.45 (CBR - MEL), $149 is the min, * 2 - taxes $149 + $125 = $274, coming back at 17.05 (MEL - CBR) flight, add $149, all together $423.
If you book on a Thu, there is happy hour, might be a bit cheaper.

Didn't realise that was an option, that's a great shout. So you get SCs for both seats? Presumably it would only count as one eligible flight. Thanks!

Yes, you get VFF points, ie, 10 per $1 as if you are buying a seat for 2 people, and also you earn double the single rate of VFF SC earn.
Because flight taxes, ie, airport charges, security screening, etc, makes up quite an amount in the fares, maybe $149 - flight taxes might be $24/$25.
Have to move fast tho, as its school holidays coming up too.
Have to phone VA up for the booking though, as it can't be done online.
Another way, if you don't want to phone up, is to make a disc J booking on a Thu (happy hour might be available for J, not 100% sure), but if you do a disc J CBR - MEL, it might be easier and faster, not cheap tho.
For EconX, you only earn the normal 5 points per $1 spent, and the 15 VFF SC.

Oh, re: eligible sectors for SC earn, yeap, only, so CBR - MEL with comfort seat booking, is still one, and then back to CBR is one, = two.
If you need more than two sectors, then maybe do a status run over the Labour Day long weekend, $$$ tho.

A slow way, too late now, maybe for next cycle, is to buy all your groceries from Coles, they give out 1 VFF SC per $100 spent.
No eligible sectors, so still have to fly, but you can earn quite an amount of SC with Coles.
