Seq No

Generally it's the number at which you have checked in and had your seat allocated.

So don't get a SEQ no of 300 and then demand that you get a window / aisle seat!

I found on EasyJet that they call you to board by seq no.. ie. 1-30 then a few minutes later 31-60 etc.

...and one of these days I will achieve a Seq No of 1. No matter how early I try for a connecting flight many hours in the future, don't seem to have ever got below about 20...

I don't seem to have an issue getting "1" sequence numbers. I believe it depends on what flights you take (eg *very* early morning vs other times), the types of planes (eg QantasLink Dash- 8 vs Qantas 747's ) , how you check in and whether the flight is deemed a connecting flight.

Today I had a 5am flight (yuck!). Checked in through quickcheck even before the checkin staff arived and while the airport was very quiet... so got sequence 1.

If you check in through Quick-Check, then you can also get the same day's return tickets ... so technically a 6pm or so flight could have issued tickets around 7 or 8am. (I think the limit is 10 hours, but not sure). Also, the checkin staff can issue you your return tickets within the same time frame if you're doing a same day return.

Also, it's possible to fly from say Darwin to Sydney (5 hrs or so), and pick up both boarding passes for Drw-Syd and Syd-Mel when checking in at Darwin... If the first flight is a red-eye leaving at midnight, then you've got no chance of beating the connecting pax.

A quick look at some of my BP's for this year:

Seq#1 for:
Wlg - Akl
NTL -Bne
BDB - BNE
Mel - Bne (x2)
Adl - Mel
Bne - Syd

Highest Seq# is 154 Akl-Mel, with some between 5 and 20, and the majority for the major dom routes around 50 - 80 or so.

I don't keep all of my BP's so there probably are some more.

I have had a few sequence 1s over the years.

However on some flights with online check-in or connecting international pax you would need to check in 48 hours (or more) before the flight time in order to get #1.
