Well the time is nigh, I will shortly (a couple of weeks) be setting off for my first all Y trip to Blighty for three years.....actually I'll be in Germany for the bulk of the trip, and it will be carry on only.

I'm trying to cut my "necessaries" down to an absolute minimum.....including shoes. I normally carry a lightweight pair of Florsheim dress black shoes and wear a pair of Florsheim Kore walking shoes. This time I am trying to travel with just one pair.

Obviously I'd prefer three inch stilettos :p, but my new black Florsheim Kore Braydon walking shoes seem too good to be true. They are very comfortable and I'll get away with them in a formal business environment......whatever that is.

I have never done a trip with only one pair of shoes so I'm a little nervous!! I'd be interested in what some of you other carry on types do about shoes.

On short trip to the US I travel with my dress black shoes only. If I'm lucky enough to stay at a Fairmont hotel they provide running shoes during the stay... I did on some occasion buy cheap shoes en route and disposed of them before flying back home:shock:

Need to get a bit of booze in you if you plan on walking very far in those!:)

I always wear my heels as they are an absolute b*ggar to pack in the carry on without destroying things :D
My carry on has two pairs of ballet flats, Havaianas and depending on the destination a pair of smart ankle boots

In my case one pair of shoes takes at least 1/3 of my carry-on space... but I don't want to presume anything about the OP shoe size...

Another vote for Ballet flats. Two votes for seeing Tony Hancock walking around town in them, methinks a bright pink pair would work with your wardrobe ;)

Shoes have always been the killer in my carry-on only luggage plans. However I have been known to do a 3 week biz trip with a pair of black ballet flats and a pair of black heels. Shame the joggers don't fit - but gives me the perfect excuse for avoiding exercise ;)

I have some friends who swear by wearing crocs, esp for US TSA shoe taking off pulaver.

;)

Several years ago I met the guy who was apparently responsible for bringing crocs to Australia. I tried to have him arrested for crimes against style ;)

I usually wear a pair of black Florsheim slip-on's and pack either a pair of Chuck Taylor Connie's (as they squash down quite flat) or a pair of black suede shoes (which also compress pretty well). My blue suede pair I leave at home. ;)

My last trip to the US I bought a pair of Merrell Vibram Barefoot running shoes which only weigh 175 grams each and also compress well. Be able to throw those in as well.

I'm liking the look of the Merrell Vibram Barefoot running shoes. Now on my shopping list for my US trip in April/May.

Still a touch uncertain about the ballet flats!!
:p

I will never sacrifice comfort over space hence my business shoes travel in my carry on and I usually wear my timberlands scuffs (pictured except navy)

I travel with one pair only, slip ons, Rockport typically. Black. Only take the pants that will match the shoes :-)

I'm not particularly stylish - I have on sneakers, and a pair of thongs and heels in the bags.

I do not travel anywhere without a pair of black leather dress shoes usually moccasin style.

If I am playing golf then a pair of sneakers goes into the golf bag.

Clearly not men's size 10 1/2 hiking boots :p. One reason why I just can't manage carry-on only on INT :-|.

For the last few years I have been travelling with only one pair of shoes and a 75mL Instant Wax Shine for periods up to 7 weeks.

They have experienced all terrains, weather, dress standards, social conditions and many kilometres of walking.

Including the frozen footpaths of London and Berlin.

I don’t know why I had some uneasiness the first time I wore them at a black tie event and dinner at the Reform Club but that quickly passed and I now have complete equanimity whatever the occasion.

They are extremely comfortable, long wearing, low cost and don’t set off the airport security alarms.

What are these magic shoes you may well ask?

Well they are Hush Puppy Airport Friendly that come in several styles.
