Effectively correct. I think there are limitations to what they can charge on PBS meds that they buy cheaply, but it is most effective if you need a med that costs more than $36.10. Most of these meds are still under patent and cost a lot, and this is where your Amex can save you $.

Chives at Logan road upper mt Gravatt Brisbane - 3% surcharge but let me split it over 2 AMEX cards

Going for 3 shops tomorrow......and that's my 5 taken care of

Posted further detail in its own thread, but the tripadvisor/amex linkup has further cashback offers for restaurants, with some ok savings to be had.

I called another chemist on the list that is nearby and to purchase 2 prescriptions I need would cost ~$8 more than the discount chemist I use. I thought they were not allowed to vary PBS prescriptions that much.

I am not into designer meat. Wherever I see lamb grilling chops or lamb loin chops for $15-$17/kg I know the place is a rip off.

Yea it's a bit pricier for sure but most of the meat is either Organic or Free Range etc.
I just got a medium organic free range chicken, half kilo turkey breast, a 450g pork steak, 125g of free range bacon and half kilo of stir fry steak for $26 after the rebate. I don't think I could beat that at QV markets for non-designer meant... I'm happy! :)

I'm confused. I thought PBS medications cannot be discounted and as such should be the same price everywhere?

Oh... Turns out government subsidized PBS is different (I though the PBS was a subsidy). Anyway off topic sorry

Disappointed with my haul today

2 cards used at landscaping supplies at darra - surcharged

2 cards used at shingle in my ommaney in combination with ET book bogof of bacon and eggs

Only one shop left on each card and thinking of doing toscani's at orion for both

Horses for courses! Is that a bad pun?

Gourmet, organic, free range is wasted on me. I cannot enjoy food if I have to overpay for it. I dont know why but that is how I have been for a long time. Have no issue throwing away $100 and $1,000's but cannot overspend on food. Go figure.

8 more tx to go, ended up buying a whole bunch of gift cards from Autopro and parts from Peps Auto.

Got $10 x 2 back today from the following:
* Bought some foie gras, olive oil and chocolates from Black Pearl Epicure in Fortitude Valley.
* Breakfast at Harvey's on James St also in the Valley.

Neither of them displayed the sign.

A brilliant promotion by AMEX. I've saved $50 this weekend running my normal errands ....

I hear the small business merchants that signed on to start accepting AMEX were getting no merchant fees for 2-3 months.

I was only able to complete 4/5.

I wasted over 1 hour last night. I went to Golden Coronet in Enfield who used to accept Amex and no longer accept it. Then went to 2 other Chinese restaurants in Kingsgrove and neither accept Amex.

All 3 were listed as being part of the promotion.

Extremely disappointed and I will be sending Amex an email but they generally ignore emails.

All up I saved $70...I signed up all 3 of my Amex cards including 1 supp one so I could eat at my favourite restaurants more than once ;)
If I had fully utilised all 4 cards, I could haved "saved" $200 but the narrow window to take advantage of this promo made this impossible for me.

We have 5 registered cards between Mr and Mrs Edison and we've saved $200 in this promo for the whole week .... They should have these kind of promo again!

Actually I used secure email (you need to log into the AMEX site first) and sent them a complain as I had the same experience with a local shop - I never looked so surprised when the cashier informed me they don't accept AMEX... - and I received an apologetic reply the following day and a $10 account credit for the stuff-up...

Same here:

Dear ....... ,

I apologise for the delay in response due to high volume of inquiries.

I'd like to share that all the merchants listed in the Shop Small Map had agreed to participate in the campaign. I regret that the merchant where you tried to use your Card did not accept it. I have escalated the merchant details to our Shop Small Offer Team and we will investigate this further.

I have also requested the concerned team to issue a credit of $10.00 to your account since you attempted to make a charge at the listed participating merchant.

If you need assistance in any other way, do let me know.

Sincerely,

....................

Made a complaint about 5 merchants and guess what, they've promised 5x $10 credit. Well, still waiting for that to show up however...
