Hi all,

Have a short connection time at SIN (1h15m), transferring from QF9 to BA12 (so to get an early connection to MAD). is this worth the risk?? given QF9 ontime performance stats??

I'd risk it only if on the one booking.

Note that QF9/QF10 have had some issues this week due to a damaged 388 - that may have adversely skewed contemporary on-time statistics.

The MCT in SIN fro QF to BA is 1h10 mins. I have had some really short connection times in SIN and always made it, and the times that my luggage didn't arrive in BRU it got stuck in LHR so the transfer in SIN was done in an hour and the 3 hours in LON was not enough. The only problem I can see is no lounge time :D
You could go onto QF16 if you want some lounge time and a longer transit time BA16 leaves SIN at 2320.

If both are on the same booking and you're not one to sit & worry if things are getting tight....then, ok.

Over the years I've watched a great number of people sit & stew when they should be siting back enjoying the moment:cool:

Yes it will be on a DONE4 booking, so I guess they would do what they could if I missed connection.

Would mean a later flight from LHR onto Madrid.

I am so over the Singapore lounge.....would prefer to mingle at shops and have shorter transfer....hop on BA top deck and snooze!!

Also BA16 is a 777 from memory

If a DONE4 why not try something that avoids SIN like HKG on CX (yes loses lots of FF points)? Or even JL via NRT?

Actually like Club World on BA747 upper deck.....have that booked in and would lose it if changed as L only available on BA via HK (and now via SIN)

L? Or D?

Don't forget that A388 will be going via HKG soon as well.

It is a DONE4 but I guess BA only release so many discount CW seats.

I have D booked, but if you try on the RTW site it now says only L available? But I am definately booked in CW

Depends on when you are flying, I am on BA16 in April and it is a 747 then, have my 62K booked in :D

BA12 - Could only get 64K (flew 62A last time and loved it) but love the extra space and ease of access!!!

Yes BA16 is definately 777 on Mar 15

Glad not flying tonight....QF9 is running 2 hours late......

If it is all ticketed together you will be fine.

1 hour is more than enough time to get from one gate to another gate.

All up less than 10 minutes walking.

Realize that BA and QF flights all go from around gate 20-24......

My issue is actually landing in SIN prior to BA12 leaving the gate!!!!

QF9 has a really poor record, and there does not ever seem to be a reason posted anywhere!!

For anyone who has missed a connection on a DONE4, is it purely the next carriers responsibility to provide next available flight or can any one world carrier step in?

The reason I ask is that BA only have a 777 (looking rather full) flying later that day, whilst QF have 2 380's flying to LHR?

In practice the responsibility seems to be borne by the ongoing carrier, in this case BA. (As to fiduciary responsibility and/or any charge back between airlines I know not.)

Whether they'll transfer you to another carrier or not is really a YMMV situation.
