Should I be cashing out my Qantas points?

Dropped 834k on 3 x CX J PER-JFK-PER flights for later this year.

I assume they'll survive even if QFF is drastically altered
.

I would assume yes.

Well I redeemed 500K with Ansett 2 weeks before they went under with SQ for 5 in Y MEL -Cairo return over Xmas.

SQ honoured the flights. Originally said only if no changes made. And then 9/11 happened making our choice of a ten-week Middle East backpacking trip for a family of 5, with 3 daughters aged 5, 8 and 11 a little bit uncertain! But we ended up still going and had an amazing time despite being one of the very few westerners there at the time.

But when used, SQ allowed me to move the Cairo to Singapore flights 3 weeks earlier and to add a top-over in Singapore, at no cost.

I also had top-tier status back then as a I flew a lot for work. But they only allowed the *A status to last till New Years Day, and so we had lounge access going over but not back. Though in Cairo we still got in as they had only manual systems, and so they just let us in on flashing the card. In Dubia and Singapore though they had computers to check and so access was denied.

I don't see any changes to the FF system before they sell part of it.

Whether there are any routes left to redeem on tomorrow is another matter

Indeed.

QFF is evidently worth more than the resent of Qantas combined!!!!

If there is one part of Qantas at present that they cannot risk harming, it is the QFF. If that loses market value, then goodbye Qantas.

Not saying that they will not tinker with it, but they cannot risk damaging it.
